Why did I answer the call, start recording, as I do all my calls, and the man on the line become really upset with me recording the call? 

He said I have to have permission to record calls (I do not as Im not publishing the call) but kept asking me why I was recording. I asked why he was calling and said he was from Sky.

How do they get information if I've never had a Sky product? Is there a legitimate call number for me to confirm with Sky?

From the limited details you have provided it could well be a scam call somif you gave them no details that they asked for them you will have no issues going forward. The number it was shown as being called from can be faked.

The number may have been spoofed and not genuinely from Sky - it wouldn't be the first time.

As you'll have discovered, phone numbers can't be posted on the forum, but I'm unclear what you want to confirm with Sky, given that you've never had a Sky subscription?
