Not the price I agreed

Hi

i signed up for Sky essentials and broadband on 2 April moving from NowTV.  I was quoted £20 a month for broadband and £15 for Sky Essentials on a 24 month contract.  I just got my first bills in and I have been charged £15 for essentials but £23 for the broadband.  Is this normal?  Or should I contact billing

Probably.  Check your itemised bills - it may cover a period longer than one month (as first bills can include an element of in arrears and the month in advance).

Also, check future bills to see if they are at the expected level.

The first bills will be higher as they cover a longer period than the usual 4 weeks so what do your future bills show ?

Just to note that Sky's contracts are not fixed price.  It is likely to increase next April.

Re: Not the price I agreed

Thanks for your reply.  I have just been on to billing who advise there was an annual increase on April 1.  As I joined on April 3 why was I not quoted the new rate?  It doesn't make sense that I wouldn't be told this.  I know it's only £3 but it's the principle

Hmmm.  Any contracts after 1 April should include that increase...

New customers have 60 day price protection anyway.  You may also be able to leave penalty free (broadband only).

Re: Not the price I agreed

I realise you get annual increases but I should have been quoted the new price or at least "this will rise before your first payment".  They are checking my call to see what I was told but say the price will remain.  I have to decide whether to let it slide as it's on,y £3 or cancel

I would be annoyed getting an increase signing up after 1 April...

Technically, they can do it once a year but that's pretty rotten doing it immediately!

Remember to use any right to cancel before that expires...

Re: Not the price I agreed

Their get out is I signed up on 26 March but the contract started on April 3.  I should have been quoted the new price.  A bit disingenuous of them

Ah, ok - that explains it.  But agreed at that time April's increases were well known.  Was the deal quoted by an agent or online?

Re: Not the price I agreed

Online.  I was transferred through from NowTV.  My son is a senior project manager with Sky and his Friend and Family deal was more than the deal they offered me on the phone.  Go figure.  I suppose I will need to bite the bullet as I don't want to change suppliers again and have to set up firesticks, Alexa, smart lights, iPads, phones etc etc.

Ok, then it was a March price, subsequently increased in April...  You live and learn!

I would have thought a contract agreed in March which didn't have the April prise rise included would get the 60 day price protection.

Re: Not the price I agreed

The point is the contract started 3 April.  I should have been quoted the price it would be at that time not a price that ceased 2 days before
