My sky basc tv has gone up
I am a pensioner l just have basic tv. My bill last year was €26 it has jumped up so much l rang sky and spoke to a girl in India she really wasn't helpful the best she said she could do was €39 then to go to €35.25 all l have is so basic. I can not afford anymore but from €26 to 35 euros it may not seem alot to people but l have a very small pension.
I said yrs yo this new contract but summing everything up l am going to find it so hard. Should l call sky and again explain l found the woman l spoke to didn't care l felt bullied this is so unfair l have been with sky 23yrs to be treated loke that. Could someone call me l am not very good on line. I am 78yrs old l would like someone to call me.
I live in lreland.

Re: My sky basc tv has gone up
As we are just customers here nobody will call you so you will have to call Sky Ireland again and if they don't offer you a price you are happy with you could always cancel and go elsewhere.
If someone has helped you then please click on the LIKES button in their post.
If you need help please provide as much information as you can

Re: My sky basc tv has gone up
Sky won't / can't contact you based on your post. Your Community log in name isn't linked to any Sky accounts you may have, so no one knows who you are anyway.
If your discounted minimum term has ended or its ending soon the best new discounts are still normally acquired by contacting Sky Ireland and negotiating or potentially amending your package which will require a new 24 month minimum term contract.
Significant discounts are harder to come by these days so if you’re offered something acceptable be prepared to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer is unlikely to be available when you call back. Also remember you’re not a new customer so don’t expect anything close to a new customer deal.
See this link…
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/change-your-package-2-t2#downgrade
If you decide it’s no longer value for money and you’re thinking of changing providers remember that in 18/24 months time you'll be in the same position with that company at which point you'll be able to return to Sky and benefit from the new customer discounts available at that particular time.

Re: My sky basc tv has gone up
@John1947oliverp If you have a TV or ability to watch free to air programmes, I would suggest calling Sky to give 31 days notice to end your contract. Yes you will lose some Sky channels, but if you are not watching them and/or they are unaffordable, I would suggest ending with Sky.
I actually find the easiest way to give notice to end my Sky TV account is to send an email with my name, address, phone number and Sky account number stating I am giving notice to end. The email address for Sky cannot be posted on this forum but can be found on their website.
Hope you get it sorted.

Re: My sky basc tv has gone up
Hi I gather you are on bacic but what have actuly got do you have a old Sky box with a old type contract . The price you have been quoted is quite cheap as a new contract on Sky Q which is present Sky satellite box is £42 for the most basic contract without any discounting that is 49euros, therefore the price you have been given is quite good these days for an excisting customer. I don't think unfortunately you will get a subscption for satellite tv for 26 euros these days. I assume you do not have broadband as you could get basic Skye entertainment package though that for about 12 euros. But you already have broadband this will probly not be a option to as it an extra cost to have it. What channels do you actuly watch may be if don't actuly watch many Sky channels you could you watch on Freeview though you arial plugged in to your tv without any other equipment. This assumes you have a modern tv. You can watch these channels and there are many on there that are on Sky without subscription for free. If you have just taken out this new subscription you have cooling off period so if you contact Sky in the next couple of days you can cancel this if you can't afford the new amount.
