If you pay by direct debit and it fails then Sky will attempt to take it 10 days later, however if that falls on a Saturday then they will usually attempt to take it on the Monday.
If the bill is paid in those 10 days then it might not stop Sky from attempting to pay it again so I would advise against this because what could happen is the payment you manually make could go onto your account as a credit.
