How to be sure?

I just had another call on my landline purporting to be SKY. I let them speak the spiel but when they ask me to start typing in Google on my mobile and I ask 'How can I be sure they are genuinely from SKY' they hang up? Please How can I be sure if not emailed first or called direct on my mobile? No one else has my home landline # as It is only for any emergency I have it.

Scammers use automated dialing to hit every possible number.

@AngAngAng

With any calls from 'Sky' (especially unexpected calls) if the caller asks for your previously agreed telephone password to confirm you're the account holder (which I would expect a genuine Sky agent to do) initially give an INCORRECT one on purpose. If the caller doesn't challenge it then you know it will be a scam call.

There is no way Sky would ask you to do that so it is pretty clear that call wasn't from Sky so should you get any more calls out of the blue that say they were from Sky just hang up on them.

Probably the lead-up to convincing you to download legitimate remote access software which they will then use for criminal purposes.

Hi @AngAngAng   It is nothing personal, just a random scammer.
