Genuine call? Or scam?

Sky call from 0800 number This number just called us claiming to be sky. A quick google search showed it was a scam but the caller was claiming to be from Sky and insisting she was calling to book an engineer to upgrade our old box because the BBC would no longer be available on our old box? How do I know this is real? She asked for a lot of info like password, how we pay? Amount we pay, last digits of account etc so we didn't share any further information and said we would be in touch ourselves. She was defensive

It may well be genuine. Sky are indeed upgrading old Sky+ boxes to Sky Q. It's because the BBC are phasing out SD broadcasts at some point next year which means you'll need an HD compatible box in order to continue to receive them. If you're doubtful, give Sky a call on their normal customer services number to check. You can find the number via the 'need more help' dropdown at the bottom of this page:  https://www.sky.com/help
