Escalating costs

I have Sky full fibre bb and my costs are going up every month. I have the most basic tv package and my bill is now £97 pm - a rise of £30pm since August 24. I'm told by Sky that they can give me £6pm reduction but I have to have a new 24 month contract - def not with these prices!  Anyone else have similar issues?

@Di35
It won't be 'every' month. Unless you’ve recently changed your subscription, prices go up for either the annual price increase (April in the UK) or when your discounts have ended (or a combination of the two).

Sky will have told you the date any discount was ending when you took it out so if it has ended you’ll be paying the full undiscounted price.

Perhaps compare a previous bill to your latest bill and see where the amounts differ
www.sky.com/bill.

If you’re no longer in a discounted minimum term, or its ending soon the best new discounts are normally acquired by calling Sky and negotiating or potentially amending your package which will now require a 24 month minimum term contract. Sky are not obliged to offer you another discount, and recent posts on here indicate that significant discounts are now harder to come by. If you’re offered something acceptable be prepared to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer may no longer be available when you call back.

Re: Escalating costs

My wife was today quoted a £60 increase in the cost of our Sky package. £60 since February that is. They want to charge us £46 for Broadband that has never been anything like "superfast" and is of very poor quality. She was given the usual runaround about there must be something wrong with the router , tv etc. It is on offer for £22.92 but only for new customers of course. I really feel like canceling the whole thing. I am out of contract so will definitely be getting Broadband somewhere else. I will certainly not sign up to a new package at these prices.

@dmac59 switching to another provider to take advantage oftheir new customer prices would be the way to go, if you can't agree a reasonable deal with Sky.

You'll very likely be in the same position with a new provider after your initial minimum term has expired, of course

'Superfast' is a marketing term permitted by the ASA and Ofcom for 'up to' 80Mbs broadband: actual speed on FTTC at any particular address depends on line length to the fibre cabinet.
