Downgrade charge.

I am absolutely disgusted with sky. Today I have cancelled our movie package as it is rather expensive and we are not using it. I cancelled it as we can't actually afford it and now Sky want to charge me £60 cancellation fee? This is absolutely disgusting and I will be leaving sky completely. What a scam! Over priced as it is at £68 a month now I'm asked to pay double right ontop of summer holidays. Money grabbing scam.

@Anonymous  If you were inside your contracted period for Sky Cinema, that charge is for early exit.  This is made clear in the T&Cs.

@Anonymous presumably you were in contract for sky movies and had agreed an 18 month contract. This will almost certainly have been cheaper than a 31 day rolling contract for sky movies that you could have chosen. Sky are charging you for the remainder if your contract as per t and c's. Unfortunately flexibility to cancel when you like comes at a cost. If you believe sky are incorrect then take it further and raise a complaint. From the information provided above and as a fellow customer its probably sky which are correct here.

@Anonymous  A Scam is where someone takes moeny from you in return you get nothing.  You're complaining because you want to end your Sky Cinema contract early and Sky are well within their rights to charge an early exit fee.  This is made very clear in the T & C's you agreed to, if you don't read them then that is your choice, but you cannot complaint whn you wan to effectlively break them.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

  • A better way to deal with the package price would have been to call Sky and renegotiate your package as a whole.
  • You would most likely find a cheaper price for an extended minimum term.
Passing on the tips I have learned in over 25 years as a more than satisfied Sky customer.

Re: Downgrade charge.

I am 100% with you. Same thing happened with my mum today. She was offered sky cinema for free but even worse, she got a 'new bundle' a few months later - she didn't ask for this - and has started being charged for it out of the blue for £10 a month  - she wasn't aware and didn't agree to any of this. Then to top it off, when she said would get rid of it rather than pay £10 a month, they told her she had to pay £60 exit free or else kept paying £10 a month - which she didn't agree to in the first place. After this I've realised I can't trust Sky to be honest and Ive reduced her TV bill from £51 to £27, will help her switch  as soon as her contract ends.

Get her (as the account holder) to ring Sky again, and ask them to listen to the original call. If a new bundle has been added without her agreement they should honour what she did agree to.

After this I've realised I can't trust Sky to be honest and Ive reduced her TV bill from £51 to £27, will help her switch  as soon as her contract ends.

If all else fails she could make a complaint. This link will explain the complaints procedure https://www.sky.com/help/articles/how-to-make-a-complaint
