Dont use sky

I've been a Sky customer for 9 years, and I can honestly say: avoid this provider.

The problem isn’t just the low internet speed or the fact that they still can’t provide full fibre in my area after many years. The real issue is the pricing and how loyal customers are treated.

I’m currently paying £43 per month for 60 Mb download speed broadband, while new customers are paying around £23 per month for the same service. I’ve called customer service multiple times asking them to explain why I’m paying nearly double and whether they could adjust my contract.

The answer was simple: they can’t help me.

After nearly a decade as a customer, that’s extremely disappointing. Loyalty clearly means nothing here. This will be the last year I use this service [Removed]

@Vilius

New customers are offered good discounts as an incentive to join. Most companies do this now. You probably took advantage of such a new customer deal when you first joined.

If you can't reach an acceptable price for renewing then move to an alternative provider, but in 18/24 months you'll be in the same position with them, and will be able to rejoin Sky if you wish and take up any new customer deals available at that time.

@Vilius to provide a fibre service, Sky are reliant on the infrastructure having already been put in place by Openreach etc. I'm in the same position waiting for that to happen.

You're not a new customer, so Sky have no need to give you a new customer discount to persuade you to sign up. You'll undoubtedly be able to get a cheaper deal as a new customer with another provider.

They probably can but you'd have to agree a 2 year term.

^ This.  If Sky can't provide Fibre then other probably providers won't be able to either.

Unless you are in a VirginMedia area or some other non-OpenReach service has cabled the area then your options are limited.  Star Link?

Re: Dont use sky

Looking at Sky broadband deals for new customers yes it gives good price I can't have full fiber either at present I am with BT and pay £76 for part fibre 76mbs speed. Sky could offer me the same part five with the same speed for £24 month on two year contract. What Sky don't tell you in there advertising is the price that it would increase to t the of the minimum term or what I would then be offered as exsisting customer then. To be honest I am quite happy with the service I get from present provider. Yes it more expensive than what Sky  can offer but my contract dose include extras which I won't go into here. I also know BT offer cheap deal also for new customers if I wanted to at the end of my present term  get a cheaper contract of about £28 a month as I have seen bt price list ( which is ther standard price list not particularly just for new customers) and there is package on there at that price but I would lose  the extra I now get  get and would probably be Simlar what Sky could offer me,
