Disappointing with sky

Had sky sports for a month free from sky for being loyal customer cancelled it within time spam and now been charged.Contacted sky told I was being put through to billing then had to hold for 45 mins to be told closes at 8.Very angry with customer service and sky in general how they treat people

Did you cancel it on the same day that you added this as you have to do this as 31 days notice is required to cancel it, if you didn't then you will be billed as has happened.

That's quite normal. As you have to give 31 days notice to cancel, and billing continues as normal during your notice period, you end up initially paying beyond the date your service ends. Sky will only charge you to that date, however so any charge beyond your ending date will be refunded.

So to avoid being charged you needed to cancel giving the 31 days notice immediately 

you took up the offer. So how long into the months offer did you cancel?
