Disappointed.
I am apparently a sky VIP member, 26 years, I think it may be a little longer. I had a deal at £96 a month, including broadband, which 3 months ago, vaguely, went up to £106 a month, phoned and I'm on the best deal. So it's now going up to £118, approx, and future bills show £121, then £130. Phoned again I'm on the best deal! Virgin offering the exact same, but more for less than half this. I have a large exit fee, but will still be better off overall. Come on sky, get a grip, 26 years and I'm on the best deal? I think not. £34 a month increase when I'm retired, on a limited income is embarrassing. I honestly can't believe you haven't offered a better deal, didn't need you to match it, but you could try and get close! Never had a problem, and I've never complained before, but my son who lives 2 minutes away, and has been with you for 2 years gets the same deal £30 a month cheaper? So much for loyalty.

Re: Disappointed.
You're not addressing Sky posting here...
Those increases sound like your minimum term is ending. If so, early termination charges would not apply...

Re: Disappointed.
@sonic-boom
You may not be aware but you haven’t contacted Sky by posting here. This is primarily a customer ▶️ customer discussion forum where we try to assist other customers.
If your discounted minimum term has ended or its ending soon the best new discounts are still normally acquired by contacting Sky and negotiating or potentially amending your package which will require a new 24 month minimum term contract.
’Significant’ discounts seem harder to come by these days so if you’re offered something acceptable be prepared to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer is unlikely to be available when you call back. Also remember you’re not a new Sky customer so don’t expect anything on a par to a new customer deal.
See this link…
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/change-your-package-2-t2#downgrade
If you decide it’s no longer value for money and you’re thinking of changing providers remember that at the end of their minimum term you'll be in the same position with that company at which point you'll be able to return to Sky and benefit from the new customer discounts available at that particular time.

Re: Disappointed.
Just very disappointed. And is this not a community to discuss these things?

Re: Disappointed.
I am just disappointed by sky. I thought this being a community it would generate some answers. Obviously not.

Re: Disappointed.
What answer do you want?
Actually giving notice to quit may get their attention but not always.

Re: Disappointed.
I hope sky are paying you well. I just thought I might get some discussion on this site, not the 'what do you want' syndrome. 26 years is a long time. A bit of respect would have been appreciated.. please don't reply.

Re: Disappointed.
@sonic-boom your situation isn't unusual, I'm afraid. 'Loyalty' discounts have pretty much dried up. As @PandJ2020 posted being prepared to cancel might generate a better offer. Proceeding to cancel might get ypu a post cancellation offer. But both are something of a gamble.

Re: Disappointed.
@sonic-boom problem? Would you prefer an inaccurate answer just because it's what you want to hear?

Gotta love someone who doesn't like facts that don't suit them 😉

Left sky.
Hi all. I'm not here to rip sky to pieces, I've no problem with them. Other than cost!
I've been with sky 27 years, so I'm a vip member etc., etc. I recently noticed in the next 2 months my bill going from £106, to £130. I have tried to re-negotiate but had no joy, three times I've phoned. I really cannot afford £130 per month. So I've switched to another provider, saving £80 per month. So when I informed the tv dept., I'm eligible for a deal! I had the other provider sort everything yesterday, all good up to yet, I didn't even ask what the deal was. Just can't believe that I've been with them that long and they can't offer a deal until it's to late. As a foot note, my son, who's been with them 18 months, had just got a cracking deal, so much for loyalty. I would add that I've been very happy with sky, but can't believe they cannot negotiate. And please don't say the normal **bleep**, cheerio etc. just a normal guy trying to get a fair price. 👍🏻

Re: Disappointed.
@sonic-boom I think you have raised some interesting points, and so here are a couple of my reflections:
Loyalty: I found Sky's loyalty programme & perks of little value to me, my only loyalty was to spend as little as possible for whatever Sky service was provided. I would religiously go through the 18/24 month end of contract haggle & threaten to leave even though I knew I was never going to leave Sky🙄
Unique Selling Points: if memory serves me right, back in the day your TV options where either Sky or free to air via an aerial. I've never lived in an area served by NTL or Telewest (pre Virgin Media). When football was invented in 1992, Sky was basically the only option if you wanted to watch live English Premier league as my household did. Sky used to do 3D broadcasting- a bit of a novelty but I really enjoyed it but it was not profitable.
Other providers & fragmentation: Sky are no longer the sole digital entertainment behemoth they once were, e.g. EPL rights, UEFA CL and other sports being shared or no longer on Sky. With the advent of other streaming platforms such as Netflix movies could be watched outside of Sky Cinema.
Do I need subscriptions: with the home being an emptier nest now, I audited of what we actually want to watch on Sky, and it boiled down to football and F1. So I now use Sky's cheaper entertainment platform Now TV which gives us the 4K sport we want as well as cinema and entertainment because they are cheap viz. £31 pm total.
Now TV Sports + Entertainment + Cinema + Ultra Boost @ £31 pm (till October 2026)
2 x FTTP lines: Digi £15 pm 900/900 & Aquiss £36pm 80/20
Connected in dual WAN to 3 x Asus XT9 mesh & 2 x Asus RT-AC58U
65" Samsung S92C OLED TV
6 other streaming TVs
