Change of Heart

I left Sky for Virgin Media to save money a month ago.  The new Broadband connection is fine but the facilities on TV with Virgin Media are rubbish.  I want to rejoin Sky TV for TV only but their "virtual assistant" want £177 for a months subs when I wasn't using Sky.  I got a message from a human after a long struggle but even then the link she sent me only led back to the virtual assistant.  If I could speak to, or even email , a human I could get all this sorted out.  HELP !

Please explain this, what is this £177 for, did you leave Sky when you were still in a contract ?

@GeorgeSephton  How did you cancel with Sky?    Did you receive confirmation from Sky?  Virgin Media can only take over a broadband service not your TV service, so did you have Sky TV as well?

If so and you didn't cancel correctly it's likely charges are still due regardless of not using the service.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: Change of Heart

The transfer was done between Sky and Virgin Media which is apparently the way things are done nowadays.

It is for broadband but not TV. It may be that you didn't cancel Sky TV so there is now money owed.

@GeorgeSephton That only applies to broadband services, TV services are not automatically cancelled when you move provider.

Virgin came into the expanded one-touch-switch system earlier this year, but only for broadband.  There's no equivalent system for subscription television even when both the ISPs involved are also subscription television providers (which is only Virgin, Sky and BT/EE) : unfortunately you'd be far from the first switcher to be caught out by this.
