Cancelling mid contract, sky box broken
Our sky box won't switch on, we contacted and they advised Sky Q and fixed a date for an engineer to fit. They came out and found they are unable to provide us with sky Q due to the position of the dish and access.. we are mid contract, sky are saying we cannot cancel, however they aren't providing us with any service, so we don't want to pay for something we aren't getting. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated!

Unfortunately an existing viewing card will no longer pair with a Sky+ HD box acquired that way, so it's not a viable method of replacing hardware. Almost as if Sky wants to see the back of that platform, really.
Pairing of cards with second hand replacement boxes ended 29th October 2024.

Dang.
Then if they won't release from a contract (and the terms say you cannot cancel unless they agree) then the only option is to pay a local firm that will fit the LNB in the location.

Was the installer not able to find another location for your dish where it can still receive a signal?

Unfortunately not, he did advise a 2nd hand box, however the card has been blocked from changing, as another has also pointed out further up the post, they don't get updates anymore either so probably wouldn't last long anyway.
