Broadband renewal

My contract is up for renewal. I have been given a price of £51. if I renew for 24 months. I pay £34 at the moment. This, seems, like a big increase

Quite possibly.  Sky isn't obliged to offer anything better though: they may or may not choose to do so.

The current business model appears to prioritise attracting new customers over retaining existing ones.

@Fletchmill2
If your discounted minimum term has ended or its ending soon the best new discounts are still normally acquired by contacting Sky and negotiating or potentially amending your package which will require a new 24 month minimum term contract.

’Significant’ discounts seem harder to come by these days so if you’re offered something acceptable be prepared to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer is unlikely to be available when you call back. Also remember you’re not a new Sky customer so don’t expect anything on a par to a new customer deal.

See this link…

If you decide it’s no longer value for money and you’re thinking of changing providers remember that at the end of their minimum term you'll be in the same position with that company at which point you'll be able to return to Sky and benefit from the new customer discounts available at that particular time.

If the price you currently paying you say£34 but the picture shows it as £32 if that was the price because you were a new customer.  Sky intice new customers with incredibly low loss making priced contacts. Unfortunately when that term end as in your case, and you re- subscribe as exsisting customer  the discounts offer are not nearly as so good and a lot higher than initial  contract price as you have  found out.
if you are unhappy with Skys offer you are quite at liberty to find another provider who you  will  be a new customer to them and will probably offer you  a lower price. But bear in mind when that period ends with them , just as with Sky you will be an exsisting customer With them,  so there  next offer  with them will again probably be lot higher than the initial one

That's one way of describing that...

@Fletchmill2 if you're coming to the end of the contract period, I'd shop about, or maybe try a live chat with Sky and see if they can offer a better price. Have some quotes ready, and see how you get on. If I could get better prices I'd swap, every pound counts nowadays.

let us know how you get on.

Hi @Fletchmill2  How long have you been with Sky? The loss leading new customer price reverts to a normal price at the end of the honeymoon period. Best to change every two years.
