I don't think Sky has publicised a date when this will start.

 

The on screen message advising the close down of the BBC SD services was displayed for around 3 months before the change began. Perhaps the same will apply to the changeover of the other SD channels too.

Hopefully Sky we're giving sufficient notice to allow customers to consider their options and if necessary purchase a second hand Sky+HD box which are likely to be sought after.

The BBC and ITV changes have already happened.

Can i ask - if i change my sky+ box to an hd box do i also need to subscribe to hd?

You'll get the free to air HD channels such as BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, C4 and C5 and a few others without an HD subscription. You'll get fthe rest in SD.

So if i dont subscribe ill lose everything i can currently watch on my sky package?

No, you don't lose anything you will gain the FTA/FTV HD channels

As per my post on the other discussion, no you don;t need to subscribe to HD to watch.

 

if you now have an HD box, that will cope with the SKY SD channels when they change their transmission signal in the coming months - you just need a box that can work with the different signal which the HD boxes can
