Direct download should be possible (with Sky Go Extra) but it's not possible to transfer Recordings from a Sky box to a Go client that way as they aren't on the same logical network if the mobile is using a cellular data connection.

I can direct download over Wi-Fi but not mobile data.

Why have you blocked the ability to download over wifi ?

I meant, why has sky blocked the ability to download over 4G/5G?

A repeat of the question.
Why has Sky switched off the ability to use Sky Go over mobile data on iPhones?
Or is that incorrect and I simply need to do some reconfig on my phone?
Thanks

So basically no answer as to why Sky has switched off the ability to download over 4G/5G (data usage which has nothing to do with them) . And no sensible explanation provided either.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI know in the early days of Sky Go it wasn't possible to download over the mobile data network only Wifi so it might be that for whatever reason it has never been possoble to do this but again I haven't a clue why it is.

I can download programs from All 4 using mobile data so this is pretty shoddy from Sky. They are not worth the money that customers spend on their services.

To reiterate, you could download before over 4G using sky go. However, Sky has turned this facility off and has provided no sensible or logical reason why. We now have 4G & 5G and still Sky has not switched the facility back on. It means you have to be on wifi in order to download things to watch, which makes no sense if you are out and about ie mobile. Note. This is nothing to do with being able to use Sky go on the move.

Just wondered if you could use a phone to create a hot-spot, then download via the hot-spot WiFi to a tablet. Didn't work for me, though I wondered whether it would work with a mobile router.

Sky needs to re-enable this, as somebody who travels for work this is a genuine blocker to me continuing to use sky.

I agree just one the train trying to download for when I go through the tunnels and can't. I have 5g and unlimited data so makes no sense at all.
