Hi, I am new to Sky and trying to send notification emails from a small NAS server. I am having trouble setting up the smtp settings and wanted to check a few things. When doing a seach I have found the following:
smtp Server - smtp.tools.sky.com
smtp port - some say 465 and others 587?
smtp user name - I registered using a gmail address. Is it this, or do I get allocated a sky email address?
smtp password - I assume this is what I use to log on to the sky wensite.
SMTP security - I only have the options of either SSL, TLS or non.
My server is also asking for a username, which I am assuming is my email address as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIf you are new to Sky then I presume you haven't got a Sky email address and as it isn't possible to create one you would be unable to use Sky/Yahoo email servers if this is the case.
So who is your email account with ?

Thank you for looking at this.
I only have a gmail account now (I was with virgin but swapped to Sky)
I could set the server up to the virgin account, no problem, but it doesn't work with the gmail, as it isn't a trusted device (it's an older Qnap server), so I was hoping I could use the Sky smtp server now.
I hope all that makes sense.

You will be unable to use Sky's smtp server for the reasons I stated above and that is to use this server you have to have a Sky email account and I'm afraid it isn't possible to open one now.
