So not only do we not get a premium upgrade option, they actually shaft us and downgrade us to basic!
Glaf i took advantage of the cheap year of premium on Black Friday.
Glad I'm out of contract!

I am really glad I did the same seeing sky pull this downgrade (removed) and paramount did make the premium an attractive offer that was hard to refuse.
I said in a previous post (removed) and sky did not disappoint (removed) as usual. Should really be ilegal while in contract as well.
2026 is when I come out of contract and planning on leaving. I would just pick up sky via now if they have anything worth watching.

People probably already know this but for those who don't.
The Paramount+ subscription with Sky Cinema is changing to a Basic plan ( with ads), from what i can gathe.r this is driven by Paramount and there is no option available to upgrade it to a standard plan without ads.

I have just read paramount plus that is included with sky cinema will all be moved to the ad plan from Jan 21st?
I will never watch a service paid for with ads i prefer to pay for the premium version ad free. So not really sure it will be worth renewing sky cinema has having paramount plus included made it good value without that not sure I would renew cinema next time.
Anyway 2 questions
1. Can you at least upgrade for a cheaper price from the ad plan to the premium plan with the paramount plus through sky cinema?
2. If I do subscribe to the 4K ad free plan of paramount will i be able to watch ad free and in 4K through the sky stream box?

1 - No
2 - Yes if you subscribe through Paramount directly

The question is would you still have purchased ParamountPlus without Sky Cinema even if the Premium Tier was an option
I don't have Sky Cinema but have a free 12 months subscription thanks to Sky VIP
I can upgrade my free subscription for the Premium Subscription for £10.99 or £97.99
Sky aren't forcing you to keep Paramount Plus if you cancel it doesn't affect the price of Sky Cinema

No, they aren't forcing you to keep P+, but getting it free was one of the reasons I kept Cinema.
Cinema is getting less and less attractive, with more and more films premiering on various streamers, rather than Sky.
With my £48 Premium subscription to Paramount Plus, I really have no reason to continue with Cinema, so will most likely cancel.

Fair comment @Goooner1
Not really free if you need to subscribe to Sky Cinema to get it
I have a free 12 month Paramount Plus subscription and I'm not a Sky Cinema Customer

I keep track of what I watch using a spreadsheet. I watched more on apple tv in 3 months last year than all of last year on paramount plus so for me, I'm not bothered by the change as paramount plus isn't a pull factor for me.
But I totally understand anyone who it is.

Bear in mind paramount plus does not carry any really decent movies or tv programmes as paramount plus uk is completely different to the U.s and rest of world version ie U.k is done mainly with the channel 5 programmes and mtv programmes,
If cancel movies you loose Netflix which is 100 percent better than paramount .
Then in 2026 Discovery plus is changing again will be free with movie customers

@Pete71 I think some of this is incorrect.
Netflix through sky is not part of sky cinema. Most customers it is part of ultimate tv add on (which is only netflix) though some customers who have not changed their package since introduction of sky signature may have it as part of a different add on (so long ago, I don't 100% recall)
On the WBD/Max and Sky deal, please see https://www.skygroup.sky/en-gb/article/sky-uk-ireland-and-warner-bros-discovery-announce-new-distrib...
There is no indication from what I can see that this in a years time limited to sky cinema only. It states it is for sky customers but gives no indication of the level. For Now members, it states
Though assuming the full details of who will qualify may be a difficult subject and a bit of guesswork. It will be clearer closer to the time.
Even for those waiting for max under the impression that Pete posted, keeping sky cinema only for Max for 12 months until it launched may be bad financial advice.

They introduced the lower priced Sky Essentials package (£15 or £18) which currently includes Discovery+ which Max basic with ads will be replacing , Sky Atlantic only (the main selling point will only be Sky Originals in 12 months) and Netflix standard with ads only a few bays before the Max bundle announcement and was agreed 6 weeks before that according to WBD UK Chief

Paramount Plus is what you need to watch all the Taylor Sheridan stuff is one example.
Nothing to stop people using a VPN and subscribing to US P+ either.

Netflix on Sky has never been linked to Sky Cinema subscription.
It used to be upgraded by the Sky HD and UHD add-ons, but not any more.

Will see if Sky offers MAX Premium tier directly or not
Prime Video doesn't even offer MAX Premium tier on Prime Video channels where it’s launched in several countries and I'd expect to launch on Prime Video in the UK replacing Discovery+ entirely
Why they didn't call the service Warner Max or something similar I will never know.
