I use a Sky+ HD box and recently it’s stopped allowing me to download catch up programs, which is really annoying
anyone have a solution?

Thanks, I get a messsge " To receive the full on demand service please visit Sky.com/tvondemand.
it always worked in the past and I pay £117/ month so thought I had every service!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAssuming you're not trying to download in HD without having the HD add-on, it looks as though the Catchup/On Demand privileges contained in your Viewing Card aren't working. You'll need to contact Sky to ask for them to be reinstated.

I sat waiting for an engineer online today for well over 1.5 hours.
The person asked me to reset the box to download the software, which took 15 minutes and still it did not work.
I then had this person trying to force me to swap to a Sky Q box, and then finally they said that the download function is now switched off by SKY, which I assume is to force everyone to move to SkyQ so they dont need to support anymore.
Why they dont just come out with that statement instead of wasting our time is beyond me.............
Awful customer service!

I don't believe that to be the case. There would be a whole lot more posts on the subject if that were true.

i have two SKy+HD boxes and suddenly both won't download catchup programs up channels .... it has to be their end!

Same here, Sky+ HD box, stopped working in the same way over the last few days.
Downloads fail with "Technical Fault - 11 (266)"
Main screen shows "Your Top Picks are on the way... Come back soon to see what's on."
Search does not search as you type
Catch Up TV does show some listed programmes, but all with no thumbnails and a circle saying "Image Unavailable"
Network settings shows "OK" for both connection to broadband and to On Demand.
Planner rebuild did not resolve the issue.
I can only hope Sky fix it on their end, and it isn't a deliberate attempt to move us off perfectly good HD+ boxes as rumoured.

So not the same issue - it's a fault. It's not Sky 'switching off' your On Demand service.

It's not the same as I don't get that fault code.
i haven't sky+HD boxes that both stopped being able to download simultaneously, it's at the Sky end!

Sky+ HD boxes cannot really be described as 'perfectly good': the youngest hardware is now a minimum of a decade old and cannot receive some services, particularly Sky Sports+
The end of installer support for Sky+ (and the approaching cessation of satellite television broadcasting to the UK) is not a rumour: it's a simple commercial and technical fact.
