This doesn't sound like a Talk (landline) issue. On which device are you seeing this?

And which TV box do you have?  Sky+HD, Sky Q or Sky Stream/Glass

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.
43" Glass TV & Puck Whole Home

The Sky TV error code 7998 typically occurs on a Sky Stream puck after a reset or when there is a problem with the network configuration. This error indicates that the device is having trouble connecting to Sky's servers or completing the initial setup.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Reset the Network Settings:

    • Press and hold the '4' and '6' buttons simultaneously on your Sky remote.
    • Navigate to the network setup page that appears.
    • Scroll across and select 'Continue'.
    • This will lead you to a network setup page, distinct from the usual initial setup interface.
  2. Perform a System Update:

    • Once in the network setup page, the system should prompt you to perform a system update.
    • Proceed with the update, which may address issues like being unable to access certain services or apps.

If these steps do not resolve the error, consider performing a factory reset of your Sky Stream puck:

  1. Factory Reset:
    • Press and hold the power button on the puck until it flashes orange and then turns green.
    • Release the power button and allow the puck to restart.

After the reset, you may need to reconfigure your network settings and perform any necessary system updates.

Sky services I use:
  • Sky Q in Ireland:
  • ︎Sky Signature, Sky Cinema, Sky HD, Paramount+, Discovery+ (Standard)
  • Sky Ultrafast Max (Fibre Internet)
  • Sky Talk (VoIP)
  • Sky Mobile
  • Disney+
  • Spotify (Premium)

Please treat everyone with respect. 🙂
