Its only the play store I have issues with, youtube ,sky go ect are all working fine here checked on standard broadband and sky fiber in Pudsey and Bramley area of Leeds , West Yorkshire.
All works fine on the neighbours Virgin media wifi so I can still update all I need to thanks to their wifi

I didn't ask for an engineer, these are steps taken by Sky. Please read my previous comments on this post... Also my last comment in case u missed it, Youtube on the TV seems to be working OK and SkyGo doesn't work, is this also linked to Google??
Once again, if Sky needs someone to physically to come out, at least I can then show them the issue first hand which was my point.

Same here Sky are sending an engineer as part of the process of elimination he is coming Monday morning but I cant see what he can do but I will go along with what ever they want to try, I am expecting it to be a wasted visit though

Just to add, same issue here.
As of 16th, ALL devices in my home (2 android, 1 apple) suddenly stopped correctly playing youtube, and both android stopped installing/updating apps from play store, proving this is an external issue.
On 17th I had a new router delivered, which I installed, same issue, eliminating any chance of router problems.
This is a network issue. It is preventing me using bank apps, mobile phone billing apps etc, given they need an update which wont install.
I have emailed a complaint and will see what if anything happens, but not holding my breath. I assume they are scared to admit fault given a) they push out router updates without warning or schedule and you cannot pause or revert them, and b) that would require some form of compensation.

I use my own router, this isn't a sky router issue - it's a core (maybe regional) issue.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Dr_eadles agreed it is most likely an issue with Sky's servers.at one regional location.

I have been sent a new hub but I'm reluctant to connect it as it seems from this thread that it won't make any difference and it's just going to be such a pain reconnecting all my devices to a new sky code, password, etc.
We're Pudsey area so it definitely seems to be a local issue rather than country wide.
19 Jan 2025 09:29 AM
Awoo not that I can see it making any difference if you change the hub but you can change the password in the router settings so its the same as before (I always change it from the impossible to remember password to something easy to remember)

Yep I receive a new Hub also and it didn't fix it. Like you I dont want the hassle of setting up all my devices with new WiFi & tbh my existing router has an easy to remember name & Password so I actually sent back the new hub instead of my old one

Just spoke to Martin at Sky Tech Support (nice guy).
As a workaround until the wider problem is fixed, he suggested trying a VPN. I downloaded a free VPN from Play Store (using my mobile data, as obviously the WiFi wouldn't let me!) and it worked. Play Store and YouTube worked using WiFi.
I then turned the VPN off and, remarkably, it still worked fine. I asked my wife to try it on her phone (she was having the exact same issue) and it all worked fine.
Not sure if it will remain that way or if I'll have to keep periodically using the VPN, but might be worth you all trying it in the meantime.
Martin advised that the wider problem is being looked into by Sky, and it does appear to be affecting Yorkshire/Humber.

Hi there
We are having the same problems as everyone else for ourselves and our daughter in different parts of Wakefield. Can't download apps and also unable to watch sky sports on Now on both the TV using a Now stick and the app on the android tablet.
We have made two telephone calls to technical and have had an engineer out but with no solutions despite the engineer saying on Tuesday that it was a known issue.

Same here, think they're a few forum chats about this. A proper acknowledgment and a course in f action would be greatly appreciated. Losing my mind trying to work it out with sky about how to fix it. Based in leeds

I enabled VPN on my Google Pixel phone and hey presto I can now update on the Google play store and watch YouTube 👍
