Netflix favourites:The Christmas Chronicles

There is nothing in the description that would make me watch this film it sends absolutely awful and twee...

"Siblings Kate and Teddy Pierce hatch a scheme to capture Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. When the plan goes awry, the kids join forces with a somewhat jolly Saint Nick and his loyal elves to save the holiday before it's too late.”

So let me tell you a story instead.

Very late on Thursday just as we were heading to bed I was looking for a film to entertain two of my seven grandchildren after school on Friday. I decided to watch the first ten minutes to see if it was suitable. It wasn’t, well not for their ages.

What happened next was magical, my wife stayed awake, I brightened up and we couldn’t stop watching the film. When we finished it at 1 am we were smiling knowing we had just watched a really good movie. It was so good I urge you to watch it. It has everything you would ever want from a quality Christmas Movie. Fabulous!

For fans of Steven Van Zandt, his cameo in the jail is a joy. Little Steven, is Bruce Springsteen’s sidekick, has his own band, is a member of the legendary E Street Band and of course a star of The Sopranos. Right at the end, Goldie Hawn makes an appearance. There are lots of little bits of fun like this added to the story. Netflix has presented us with a cracker of a Christmas film!

The main cast is absolutely excellent,  Kurt Russell is excellent as Santa and the children delightful especially Darby Camp the young girl who gets the whole story started, you might recognise from Big Little Lies.

A big wow of a film ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

I should have added that the last scene with Goldie Hawn makes much more sense when you realise that she is Kurt Russell’s Actual partner in real life 😎

Is she?! I didn't know! They make a nice couple though.

I watched this film and can say that it's very entertaining. I really enjoyed Kurt Russell's tricks when in jail. I felt like singing and dancing myself Smiley Very Happy

Every Christmas story has a sad element that drives the main characters and a cliched finale, and this one is no exception. However, I found it very joyful and appropriate for all ages, especially for those ones who still believe in Santa. (I don't!)

Are your grandchildren believers @SDR?

I'll give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What! Why not?  Smiley LOL

I quite enjoyed the film but I didn't really get the ending with Mrs Clause but now I know.

Thanks @SDR

Well they are still sending letters to Santa. Definitely 6/7 believe.

What is also interesting is that the pitryal Of Santa would have been recognisable to Victorian children unlike the vapid nonsense created by Coco Cola which now dominates

Today is also the celebration of St Nicholas, a bishop in Turkey centuries ago

Imagine if he shows up like this... 😂
