Member review: IO Last On Earth

IO is a very intimate film, taking place almost in one spot. IO is a 2019 American science fiction film directed by Jonathan Helpert. It stars  Margaret Qualley, Anthony Mackie and Danny Huston and released on Netflix on January 18th.

The premise is that climate change has destroyed the atmosphere rendering it unbreathable so the last of the population has nipped off to a temporary colony circling IO one of largest of Jupiter’s moon.

Although in the mountains where there is still breathable air a young girl continues her Father’s work trying to prove that life will evolve to survive.

Then a man lands in a balloon. Discussions follow. The last flight to leave the earth is departing. Will they make it on time? Will they go? What is going to happen?

It’s a bit of a lacklustre film. There are thoughtful parts but it doesn’t really ever get going properly. Like a diet lunch, it doesn’t really satisfy but is worth a look.

Mmmm was hovering over this one. It's on "My List" not sure on it. Probably doesn't help I've not long read Artemis (Andy Weir) and Places in the Darkness (Christopher Brookmyre)...

I've maybe overdosed on humanity taking steps of the Earth or something!

@Sam-R I’d give it a Miss I wish I had 😂
