Member review: Dumplin'

Dumplin’ a thrilling comedy-drama set in southern America follows Willowdean “Dumplin” Dickson (Danielle MacDonald) a plus-size high school student and her mother Rosie Dickson (Jennifer Aniston) the multiple times beauty pageant winner.

As Willowdean defies her mother, starting a revolution against pageant traditions in her small Texan-town she creates a community for outcasts. This feel-good film has continuous echoes of the Greatest Showman but with its own southern flavour.

Dumplin' deals with issues of body image and stereotypes but keeps a light-heartedness, creating the perfect balance between drama and comedy. With a positive message through-out and a sprinkle of Dolly Parton, what’s not to love?

We saw this a few weeks ago & I can confirm it is definitely worth a watch, good story, good performances & good fun.

We watched and thought it was way below par. Funny how tastes differ.
