Re: F1 channel changing to darts for a month

And another thing....F1 is a 1 channel. Could they put the darts on one of the many football channels.

Re: F1 channel changing to darts for a month

Hi I'm sure the changes will all be "correctly" administered and in no way infringe on our consumer "rights" and as I was informed by a flat corporate email last year. You can still gain access to all available F1 via "other" media!
Sadly the point gets missed, as a customer you willingly pay 12 months subscription for a "devoted channel" to watch F1 as I'd understood as and when was convenient for you, as I recall the channel when launched was "pitched as devoted" to F1, again sadly for us the customer they have the monopoly on the F1 rights in the UK so they know your stuck!

Why wouldn't we be happy to pay 12 months for 11 months viewing.

Why are we complaining.

Such ungrateful customers why would SKY as a reputable service provider offer customer service , we should be grateful to them allowing us the privilege of an overpriced services!

The term customer should be changed to a more relivant term "cash cows" that all we are.

Ive given up it's pointless, this year I'm going to more actively hunt out alternatives I need to get away from SKY!

That wouldn't work seeing how the football season is ongoing, and gets very busy over the festive period, whereas the F1 season has finished and has 0 new content during December.

Also what you are paying for is access to view the F1 content (which you still can do), you aren't specifically paying for a linear TV service, as linear TV channels come and go or regularly change over a year ( just look at how frequently the Sky Movies channels change name and content on almost a fortnightly basis, which is perfectly allowable due to the vast on-demand catalogue that is available for paying customers).

@Cocker66

You'd have to ask Sky but don't be surprised if the answer is no. We are customers here. This was well advertised by email as there is no F1 to watch. F1 is back on 6th January.

Re: Refund of Sky F1 when darts is on

As previously stated I did receive a refund but at no point did I receive any email indicating the temporary closure of Sky F1

Please see my reply further up in the thread or click here for it: https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/What-s-On/sky-F1-changing-to-Sky-darts-for-1-month-for-my-benefit/m-p/5...

TL;DR: All channels from Sky are called variable services, where the schedule, name of the channel, broadcast hours and content can change without informing the customer. Sky can also remove the channel or replace it entirely. As long as the price you pay doesn't change, Sky doesn't need to inform you. This is part of the contract between you and Sky, which you agreed to.

If you are considering changing providers due to this, all TV providers have their channels as variable services.

Re: sky F1 changing to Sky darts for 1 month.... for my benefit.

I used to watch F1 on the BBC and thought it was great but they lost the rights and it went over to sky.
I don't have any other sport interests. I never watch football for example.

I've had the Sky F1 channel from the very first day they created it, I bought it as an extra 1 off channel on top of my package because as then and now I have little interest any other sport.

I don't know which came first, I cant remember, was it HD or F1, It used to be listed as sky F1 HD on my bill, a singular extra channel I pay for separately but I've just checked my bill and it now says:

Sky Sports - 1 Pack £20
Sky Sports HD is £6 but currently showing discounted as £0

Thats £240 a year for 1 channel thats a decent chunk of money for me.

So I'm paying £20 a month for 1 one sports channel I watch, I have no clue what other sports that includes and no interest to watch them either. I have the old Sky HD+ box, not glass or Q or whatever is the newest thing is now so I don't know just what's available "on demand" with the newer boxes although I tend to watch F1 on Sky Go on my PC so as not to hog the main TV.

I scroll through the planner what seems to be Many sport channels, lots of channel numbers I just scroll past them, no interest in them.
to get to the one channel I do watch, 406, well now its 407...

I still don't understand why they had to remove the ONE channel I watch and the one channel I pay an extra fee for, when there's so many other channels they could have picked from or even use one of the many unused channel numbers in the 400s, there's plenty of them not used, but I guess that has a cost to set up.

When I first complained on here, I thought many would be in agreement but I was surprised to see the so many customers, saying suck it up, accept it, its like they are used to this behaviour and don't see it as a problem, maybe they are not f1 fans or have many sports channels they would be interested in watching, I do not, I only watch F1, I didn't watch a single second of the Darts or any other sports channel during December.

This debate seems to be have been active the entire 3 weeks the F1 channel was removed, F1 starts again in a few days, I will be watching the Tests as soon as they air (if I'm not working lol) and then Ill be happy for the next year, but when December rolls round again and sky decides yet again to remove the one channel I watch for something totally unrelated in any way to f1 ( I wouldn't have complained if they added in any other motorsport instead.) Ill think twice about saying anything here because its seems the accepted behavior is to accept anything they do, dont question it, dont complain, just pay sky EVERY MONTH, (£240 yearly is a lot of money for 1 channel) and accept everything they do because as its been clearly stated here my hands are tied by the subscription contract i agreed to....

Thank you to all the other F1 Fans on here who also voiced their frustration at having F1 removed and darts put in instead, the new season is just days away 🙂

I was going to suggest getting a Sky Sports Day Pass on Now TV, but thats €/£14.99. The F1 calendar for 2025 has 24 Grands Prix. So if you were to watch all 24 Grand Prix from March to December that's €/£359.76 per year, and if you were to get the 10 months on Now TV, that's €/£34.99 per month (normal price) or €/£349.90 for the year. It seems Sky is the better deal at €/£220 per annum.

Sky Sports is currently discounted from €/£40 to €/£20, so it is normally €/£480 per annum.

Also, side-note, the Sky Sports HD pack is now included with Sky Sports as there are no SD channels (except Sky Sports News and Mix, I think) in the UK on the EPG (except for commercial premises). In Ireland, all the SD channels still are on the EPG.

Also, you're paying for all of Sky Sports, all on-demand content, Sky Sports+ interactive channels, streaming content and the live channels. Sky or Now don't offer single channels subscriptions. So, to benefit from all of that, it would be wise to upgrade to Sky Q/Glass/Stream, depending on your preference.
