"Complaint" advert complaint

I now realise why Sky have so few complaints, they don't have a section for adverts in the community.

My problem is with the radio advert aout complaints. - there is an intimation that the caracter does not like adult males who drink squash.  As an involuntary teetotaller, I and a lot of "Designated Drivers" cannot stand in a bar with our friends and family without a soft drink in our hands.

Think about it, if you walk into a pub/barand cannot have alcohol, what drink can you have?

@Tony+Turtle  Not sure what this has to so with Sky, is it an advert of their services?

@Daniel0210 @GD1 might be wrong but I read this as complaint about a radio advert, being broadcast via a sky platform

if so I don't believe sky can control what's broadcast in the same way that can't control any tv channel outside their ownership and I don't believe sky own a radio station (again might be wrong)

Re: "Complaint" advert complaint

Hi

I've been listening to the said ad on LBC Radio for several weeks now and have felt it quite insulting and derogatory in a few ways. Today, I decided to research on how to report the ad and found this thread.

The ad is performed by a man called Karl Pilkington who complains about open toe sandals, adults who drink squash when they could be drinking alcohol and noisy eaters. He is offended by these but has NO complaints about his SKY Broadband & TV.

You can find it on YouTube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NeCJfzKT3A

I personally think it is an insulting way to portray how some people dress, their mannerisms and encouraging alcholic drinking as opposed to people feeling at ease drinking soft drinks.

Shameful approach by SKY!!

@Sidsquash  Complain to the ASA as posted in earlier replies.

This is a customer helps customer forum not a place to complain about adverts which customers have no control over.

It's actually quite an old advert as it was used last year as well - I hear it on ClassicFM quite a bit

In keeping with  the voice of Lee Mack it is meant to be humerous & not to be taken serious

Personally I don't think it is the world's best advert but like many adverts possibly designed to grate slightly to make it stand out a bit.

I don't think it will fall into any boundaries that the ASA would look at & I don't know who you would write to at SKY to pass on your thoughts

Indeed especially when you add in the character of the said Karl Pilkington.

It also, in no way, promotes the drinking of alcohol.
