That's correct. If you use eARC then all audio is sent to the external sound device you have the other end of the HDMI cable attached to. The TV speakers will be muted. Depending on your TV there might be a setting to allow the TV speakers to have audio too, but there can often be syncing issues resulting in a very echoey sound.
