When you only want the footie, it's a case of paying through the nose for 20 other sports you have no interest in.

We need football/soccer packages that are affordable.

Surely pricing people out reduces the audience, thus increasing the price further for those who can afford it?

TNT must have bid ridiculously high for the rights.

The biggest beneficiary of the sports package subscriptions would be football/soccer teams.

The current premier league rights were 6.7 billion pound.

Sky are paying £895 for the lower English league rights

The recent champions league rights were £2.2bn for paramount plus, previously tnt rights were about 1bn

I can't find a figure for what sky pay currently for tennis, but in 2017 amazon got the rights for £10m per season (per irish times), so even assuming high inflation in the rights costs means sky would be paying substantially less for it than they are for premier league

Likely Champions League will continue on TNT Sports now.

ironically enough, as it was s that paramount + overbid tnt sports  above substantially (according to reports).

The extra billion that ParamountSkyDance over TNT Sports paid for them, will be likely passed onto all Tnt Sports subscribers,

TNT Sports source said at the time they lost the rights to Paramount that

  • "“We have a clear business model, and in rights negotiations there is only a certain level we will go to,” a TNT source said. “BT Sport built an incredible business, but their losses were huge and we could not continue to operate in that way.”"

Also Sky to consider considering they won Europa League and Conference League, , i doubt it was just Sky intention to win only those...

Just been looking at the cost of adding TNT sports to my Sky package, I already have the full Sky Sports Package at £20 per month which I think is fair value for the amount of Football shown (Football is the only sport on TV I'm actually interested in)

However at £31 per month for TNT when you consider how much less there is on there it's way too expensive.

After looking around the internet I landed on the Irish Now TV site and found they were offering a combined package of all the Sky Sports channels and TNT Sports for 27 Euro for a 12 month contract or 30 Euro month to month, basically half the price of a UK consumer.

How can Sky and TNT justify the inflated costs for UK consumers, I belive NOW TV and Sky are basically the same customer.

All prices are the standard pricing from Sky directly and are exempt from deals or promotions.

Sky Sports costs:
UK: £33, Ireland: £29
(UK: €38, Ireland: €33)

But don't forget, that Sky Sports HD channels are not included with Sky Sports in Ireland, and one needs the HD pack, which is an additional cost of £8.70/€10 per month, hence why Sky Sports SD channels are still broadcast in Ireland on Sky.

So, with the HD pack, Sky Sports costs:
UK: £33, Ireland: £37.70
(UK: €38, Ireland: €43)

Additionally, this is the cost of TNT Sports and Premier Sports (Sports Extra in Ireland):
UK: £46 , Ireland: £30
(UK: €53 , Ireland: €34)

~

So, for Sky Sports, HD pack (Ireland), TNT Sports and Premier Sports, the total cost is:
UK: £79, Ireland: £67.70
(UK: €91,  Ireland: €77)

Also, Sports Extra is a deal between Sky, TNT Sports and Premier Sports that they agreed for Ireland only. The agreement doesn't apply for the UK.  Additionally, it's about costs come down to securing the rights to the likes of Premier League, UEFA Champions League, etc.

Also, you're comparing Sky Sports from Sky and from NOW, which are two different platforms with different pricing.
