Where have the new Sky movies gone?

There is a distinct lack of new movies on Sky movies. We used to get a premiere movie every day now the same movies are repeated ad nauseam and very old movies are  being re-hashed to pad out the offererings.  Will we get a rebate on the payment for this lack of content as the price is really not worth it for this tired channel called Sky premiere?

Unlikely.

I doubt the film studios have recovered yet from the hiatus from covid, hence the lack of new films being released.

You can always cancel Sky Cinema, of course, providing you're not in contract.

hi @piptex

The daily premiere was only for around a month or so and reverted to 1  a week in January

If you do a search you find a couple of discussions from then.

There are a several factors involved - there are still less films being made since Covid I think.

Studios & others are starting their own Streaming services meaning there are less for SKY to get

SKY Cinema definitely has less films that I personally want to watch these days but part of this is that I becoming more selective.

The recent inclusion of Paramount + at no cost is bonus for me but I am a Star Trek fan so the new series Strange New Worlds is a big hit with me - as well as catching up on older shows

As @Mark39 says if you don't feel it is worth a subscription  for you  then you can always cancel if you are not in contract for it

I can definitely relate to that. Movies that I feel inspired to watch are few and far between.

Strange new Worlds is a bright spot for me too in a sea of dross (please excuse the mixed metaphor!)

Re: Where have the new Sky movies gone?

Perhaps is indicative of the state of Cinema industry in general. Adult blockbusters are few and far nowadays with Marvel dominating the box office. Disney + taking them away along with Pixar and Star Wars leaves a big hole to fill for Sky. Paramount + may have been more of a necessity than a bonus.

When Warner remove their catalogue in 2025 it might well be the end of the road for Sky Cinema in its current guise. I could see it being folded into Entertainment with a price hike all round.

I watched "Quatamas 2" as I missed it the first time round in the 1950s.

D--mn, if I'd seen that was on, I would have watched it too. Probably showing its age now, and a bit corny, but still good value, I'm sure.

EDIT Sorry it was on "Talking Pictures" for one day only. It is a channel worth watching for old things.

Strange things don't usually disappear that quick on "Cinema"
