@Fothergill1

Enjoyed the Gilded Age too.

The New York sets were amazing and it was beautifully shot.

Still no show of the planned third series.

It started off well and enjoyed the first few series.

Never watched the last three series.

Might give it a go again. Yes, did see it was available again.

Can't though believe that was tepwenty years ago...

Yeah, it felt like the writer's knew the story they wanted to write, including the ending. But, because it was so well received, they had to pad out a couple more series than they initially intended.

For me, there are a few series that I always watch when they are available,

Banshee, it's so well written, and you can get invested in the characters. it's only 4 seasons, but that is the perfect amount for this series.

Ballers, again, it's well-written as well as being genuinely funny.

60 days in, it's eye-opening and shows the constant failure in the American penal system(wish they would do a UK )

Chicago PD, a gritty police drama that keeps you captivated with every episode.

Bar Rescue, having worked in the industry for years, still amazes me how so many can get it so wrong, plus Jon Taffer is an industry legend, and I've learned so much from this series.

The Rig, A good old Sci-Fi that's just fun to watch

Mobland, only 2 episodes in, and it's looking like a must-see.

Big Brother is a guilty pleasure.

Googlebox is a great way to discover new shows.

Severence is a great sci-fi/mystery drama on Apple TV+

Do just love anything Sci-fi, so will be catching with next series of Andor later this month on Disney+.

I have an Andor story to admit to @lettice

I really enjoyed the first season even though I thought the end was a bit odd (not a spoiler) .  I've been looking forward to season 2 and watched the trailer.

Only then did I realise that Season 1 has 12 episodes and I stopped after 10 !

The last two episodes have been sitting there waiting to be watched for a year !

no wonder I thought the ending was odd 😅

I watch far too much TV & I guess my reply here contains a lot of what I watch without really identifying my 'must' watch & I probably will miss many etc. as well as being a bit scatter gun rather than logical with my reply

I enjoy watching a lot Detective/Mystery Crime dramas including many of the 'lighter weight ones'

Although not current (other than repeats that I only occasionally dip into) - I guess my love of Miss Marple/Poirot/Inspector Morse/Lewis/Endevour sort of sets the scene  (the now finished Sherlock & Elementary also included).

I have watched all series of Midsomer Murders  so look forward to new series of this

This leads me to one of my favourites which could be called the New Zealand version - The Brokenwood Mysteries which has a core of 'locals' that regularly appear in addition to the main characters - 3 Detectives & Pathologist. Quite quirky but very enjoyable (U&Drama)

Other regulars that I look forward to are Father Brown, & to a degree Shakespeare & Hathaway - also a Father Brown Spin off - Sister Boniface Mysteries (although not quite as much)

I really enjoyed The Magpie Murders that originally appeared on Britbox before being shown on the BBC & then the follow up Moonflower Murders - The author, Anthony Horowitz, was on Breakfast TV this week on the launch of the 3rd in the Series Book - Marble Hall Murders which will also come to TV.

Also watch Strike:xxxx   which has had 6 series now

I like a lot of the detectives  on U&Drama:

Recent ones include :

Marlow Murder Club

Whistable Pearl

The Chelsea Detctive (another favourite) - S3 due soon I think

BTW I was not too keen on the recent Bergerac Reboot

Many Shows on U&Alibi

One of my all time favourites -

Murdoch Mysteries -although this (& the more recent) series it seems to have gone down hill

Annika (I think available on U&Drama now)

Miss Scarlet (previous seasons being Miss Scarlet & The Duke)

CSI Vegas (although this was a few months ago I think) - Managed to Binge the original CSI on Paramount +

Although now ended but repeated on Alibi -

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries

Doctor Blake Mysteries

Other than that I always watch Doctor Who but imo this has been up & down since Matt Smith's Doctor - will be intersting to see what this season brings

(The Doctor Who Prom last year was a wonderful experience - even if I was 'up in the gods')

I always look forward to Call The Midwife

Paramount+

I have really enjoyed Star Trek Strange New Worlds & look forward to S3 due soon (?)

Really enjoyed 1883 & recently 1923 but, as yet, to watch Yellowstone itself

Every now & again dip into the older Star Trek - Original / The New Generation/ Voyager/DS9 & Discovery

Netflix:

Really enjoyed Wednesday & looking forward to Series 2 due soon.

(BTW also been watching some of the original Addams Family on Amazon Prime which take me back to when I was growing up & seeing them originally)

SKy Atlantic/Max

I enjoyed Game of Thrones but didn't really get in to House of the Dragon

Otherwise over the years I have enjoyed a lot of HBO content - although the recent Dune Prophecy did not grip me (I guess the films spoilt me) BTW not yet started The White Lotus

BTW An old favourite of mine (SKY original) - A Discovery of Witches

Reality TV wise :

The Apprentice

Traitors

Bake Off

Masterchef Australia

Other

Always watch University Challenge

I did say I watch far too much and I have probably missed some key shows as well as boring you all with my 'brain dunp'

P.S. Sport - F1, Golf  & always the Summer & Winter Olympics

P.P.S. I usually enjoy the BBC Saturday 9pm Scandi & other  drama slot (although not always foreign) which has brought us some great dramas like :

The Bridge

Wisting

& several others that my memory has gone blank on

@lettice All I have found is that the season 3 release is expected sometime in 2025.  There are a few short teaser videos.

Also enjoyed the Chelsea Detective. It reminded me so much of Harrow, you could say a clone of the boat and some of the backstory characters.

The reboot of Bergerac was ok, for me it captured some of the essense of the original. Did watch the original a few years or so back, it was harder core than I remember.

On Star Trek, have you watched Picard, just been rewatching it from the beginning, it's so good.

I enjoy reading autobiography (audiobooks), quite recently read Patrick Stewart one, a must for any ST fan.

Yes, did enjoy A Discovery of Witches too. It lost a bit of its style in the last series.
In the fantasy genre did prefer the likes of The Witcher and Penny dreadful.

We do not watch much BBC, but Monday nights of Only Connect and Uni challenge and their Christmas ones are a fine watch.

Do love my traditional gardening, so Beechgrove, is a must for me.

The new Doctor may get a look in, not that I have enjoyed any recent Doctor Who at all really since the first series of Matt Smith, it all lost its purpose after that.

After the first series of the Twelth Doctor (Capaldi), that was too much to care and I never watched any of the Thirteenth.

That is about all we ever watch on the Beeb these days.

Did watch an episode of Miss Scarlett last night, a mention above. It was brilliant.
Never seen that before.

Did notice s1-4 on therewith the Duke, so something extra now on the playlist.

Ahh Harrow another favourite of mine - a while now since it aired - now that definitely had interesting back stories

As you mention Harrow did you ever see Forever also with Ioan Gruffudd about a Sherlock type character that can't die & has lived hundreds of years providing the back stories who is  an ME in New York - this is one of my all time favourites but only got one series

Yes - I enjoyed Picard

I enjoy reading autobiography (audiobooks), quite recently read Patrick Stewart one, a must for any ST fan.

Might have a look for that - although I have a large backlog of audiobooks to listen to

Yes, did enjoy A Discovery of Witches too. It lost a bit of its style in the last series.

Only started The Witcher & I keep meaning to watch more - Yes very much enjoyed Penny Dreadful - seems ages ago now

We do not watch much BBC, but Monday nights of Only Connect and Uni challenge and their Christmas ones are a fine watch.

Only Connect gets probably less right answers from me than University Challenge (i.e. rarely get any!)

Did watch an episode of Miss Scarlett last night, a mention above. It was brilliant.

Glad you enjoyed it

Yes, remember Forever. A lot of unhappy viewers when no second series appeared.

Snap!
Mind, I often think when Victoria tries and explains some of the most weirder ones, she really has no clue on the answer herself and gets in a right muddle, haha!

@oj01  Nooooooooooooo..... not Lost. I will never forgive J J Abrams & his cohorts for wasting so much of my viewing time with this show. They clearly had no idea what they were doing & were making it up as they went along. It was good at the beginning, I will give it that, but it was such a disappointment overall.

Re: What's your must watched shows? 📺

Here's some of my faves, past & present. The absolute must-watch is Breaking Bad, THE best drama on TV ever. Someone else mentioned 24 & I would agree with that. For a foreign series, Extraordinary Attorney Woo on Netflix is highly recommended.

For some comedy, I would go with the old shows, as comedy that's made these days simply isn't funny. So I would pick Cheers, Frasier, Seinfeld, Roseanne & Everybody Loves Raymond from the US, in the UK it would be Father Ted, The IT Crowd & The Office.

A couple of guilty pleasures are Gilmore Girls and Parenthood, both very good ensemble comedy dramas.

Any nature shows with David Attenborough and more recently, the selection on AppleTV+ are always very good, especially now in 4 K.

For medical shows, Grey's Anatomy is still pretty good, but my must-watch choice would be ER. Apart from being continually excellent, it gave us George Clooney.

I will throw in a few more here, including Monk, Yellow Jackets, Stranger Things, Dexter, Only Murders In The Building, anything on Netflix directed by Mike Flanagan, and anything that Stephen Graham is in.

I'm sure I will think of some others after I post, but this will do for now.

on Netflix I enjoyed The Diplomat, 3 Body Problem (the series not the movie), and of course Better Call Saul (but it's quite a commitment as you really need to watch several years of Breaking Bad before moving on to BCS)

@mike+simmonds  And I would say that making that commitment would be a valuable use of your time, being that Breaking Bad is the best show on TV ever.

Loved that when it first appeared and rewatched a few years back from the beginning.

It was great with so many believable characters that you could gel so well with.

Funny too.

All eleven series are on P+ now.

If your ever in Boston, go check it out, a lovely homage to it all.
