For those Grey's Anatomy or Chicago Med fans, what have you thought about the Pitt on HBO Max? My other half has been watching it and loves it.
I mentioned in a different thread that when watching episode 1 of The Pitt, I found the moving hand held camera style a bit annoying ?
is that just me ? Does it continue? Am I seeing something that isn't there ?
Random observation - seeing something that isn't there is interesting. I was at the Leeds v Brentford game last month and saw with my own eyes a clear handball by a Brentford player. We all screamed like idiots and pointed for a penalty. When I watched back on TV later, it wasn't a handball - it hit his chest. How did we collectively see something which hadn't happened ? 🤔🤔

That's really the USP of the show.
I was at an HBO Max launch event a couple of weeks ago and star Noah Wyle talked about how when different directors come in to do the show, the one key thing they all have to follow is always keeping the camera hand held and at human eye level when inside the ER.
This creates the immersive vibe of the show - you, the viewer, are in that room with the characters at all times. You're not observing from afar, swooping across them on a jib arm or flying through them on a drone shot.
The detailed Dolby Atmos sound mix really adds to this too. Season 1 in particular has an excellent Atmos mix, best enjoyed with a proper Atmos surround speaker set-up. There's a lot of subtle and not so subtle audio behind you at key moments in the narrative.

Re: What's your 'must watch' shows? 📺
I am someone that has never seen an episode of Greys and went into watching The Pitt not knowing anything about it bar it being a hospital drama and have to say that having watched a few episodes I am hooked. It reminds me of 24 with each episode being set across an hour of the day. The woolly camera doesn't bother me as more and more US dramas seem to operate this way,

We're halfway through S1 of The Pitt & it is definitely deserving of the awards & accolades it has been receiving. The steadicam work is fine for me ( is it a steadicam they use or a regular camera that is hand-held? ). I have a couple of favourite characters so far, Cassie & Mel. IRL, their fathers are both actors. Fiona Dourif ( Cassie ) is the daughter of Brad Dourif. Taylor Dearden ( Mel ) is the daughter of Bryan Cranston. Of course, it goes without saying that Noah Wyle is excellent in the lead role. I wonder if this will run & run as long as ER did - 15 seasons. The creator/showrunner of The Pitt is R. Scott Gemmill, who worked on ER as a writer & producer. Executive producer John Wells was the showrunner/EP for ER ( as well as many other popular series ).

I was wondering, as we keep seeing Dr. Robby having flashbacks of the Covid days, will there be a spin-off series centering on that specific time in his life, or if not a series, maybe one episode?
I've been reading the Wiki page for The Pitt, and Brad Dourif appears in S1 playing Cassie's father. Strange how it links together. His daughter is in a TV medical drama series & he is probably best known for his role in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.

@Angel_Aka This is not quite the same, but it's similar. I have recently been watching Grey's Anatomy with my headphones on, as my partner has given up watching it. I have noticed a big difference in the sound quality, with background noise being much more noticeable than when listening via my soundbar, but in a good way. I actually prefer it this way.

Re: What's your 'must watch' shows? 📺
Have already warched all S1 of The Pitt.
And the first episode of S2.
Gets a 10/10 from us.
Great ongoing plot, good mix of characters and enjoyed the camera positioning or never noticed any distracting issues with it.
Like some of the medical greats we have already mentioned here, it felt so close to reality, that it felt more believable.
Roll on S2

Re: What's your 'must watch' shows? 📺
Over the last couple of afternoons, we have been watching Secrets of the Bees on Disney+ ( a 2-part NatGeo documentary filmed over 3 years ). I don't think there are enough superlatives to cover how brilliant it was. If you think you know bees, think again. The intelligence of these tiny creatures is incredible, I actually came away from it thinking that, considering they have a brain the size of a pinhead, they are cleverer than we humans. The cinematography is outstanding. If you have the Premium D+ account & a 4K TV, you're in for a treat. Awesome documentary, incredible footage, astonishing facts, this is everything you want in a nature documentary. Thoroughly recommended.

None of those series are Sky productions.
Details of transmission dates will be released by the individual broadcasters when they see fit to do so.

@nolte A couple of questions. What's your opinion on A Man On The Inside? I'm a fan of Ted Danson, but haven't got around to watching this series yet. Also, how many episodes are there for High Potential S2? I've noticed S2 has more episodes than S1, but every time I go to watch the next S2 episode, a new one seems to have been added. BTW, have you noticed that Disney+ has added the original French version of High Potential to their content? It's called HPI ( High Intellectual Potential ).
