Vanishing balls on sport are often down to the motion settings on the TV. Look in your TV's menu for picture settings with names like Film Mode, TruMotion, Motionflow or Clear Motion (depending on the brand of TV) and make sure they're off or set to low. Very often they are turned on and set to high by default.

Yes just noticed the random black lines appearing again, haven't seen them in a few weeks.

No, it's the worst visibility EVER since I have started watching tennis. You are absolutely right, you cannot see the ball and we have a fantastic TV set up

My TV is over 10 years old and no issues at at all.Its all these super duper new tvs that need lots of set ups that are causing the problem.

Hi I agree.
you cannot see the ball at all. Very disapointing

@xenon81 I don't think it's a TV problem. Mark Petchey and others were discussing the lack of visibility of the ball on clay courts and they know it's an issue. They're talking about experimenting with different colour balls in an attempt to remedy the problem. So not Sky's fault either.

OK.. Thanks for info re settings. Have changed picture setting and turned off 'clear motion' . Will replay part of the final and see if ball vision improves.

That's more of a general discussion that's been going on for years regarding ball colour on clay.

Older tennis fans will remember Ion Tiriac trying to solve the problem at the Madrid Masters in 2012 by introducing blue clay. That certainly helped but the players didn't like it and refused to play if it was used again.
The paying fans don't matter !

I guess it's just a matter of personal choice with regard to commentators isn't it. I think it's the BBC coverage you mean. I liked the commentator. I thought she didn't talk unnecessarily and was very clear. Think she did a sterling job on her own covering four matches and potentially five. Yes her reference to GB being underdogs was just because of the fast indoor clay surface not to the worth of the players. Radacanu and Boulter were fantastic.Go GB. A fantastic two days!

Does anyone else have an issue with Sky Sports Tennis (channel 407) whereby the picture quality is terrible and appears to have quite feint vertical black lines throughout the screen? These are most obvious around the graphics, such as the scoreboard and the sky sports logo in the top right of the screen but also quite pronounced and easy to see where the lines of the court are.
The lines are not there constantly and seem to almost "flash" on at certain points (this is very often in that the lines appear visible about 50% of the time).
This is the same on my Sky Q Main Box and Sky Q Mini but does not affect any other channels. It's not tournament specific either as I've noticed it on 2 different tournaments now. I initially thought it may have been somethng to do with the tournament feed as I only noticed it this week at Monte Carlom but that's not the case.
Seems strange that it's only affecting 1 channel.

Hi, are there currently issues with the sky tennis channel? I am trying to watch but there is sound interference and it is making a horrible noise! Thanks

Yes @MarkyFletcher27 I saw this today and have seen it in the past. It can be noticed on or around the scoreboard a lot but I've noticed an odd effect of the black lines almost "chasing" the on court lines from different views.
I first mentioned it weeks ago. My own opinion again it's poor quality from either how sky are sourcing or processing their feeds.
Yes it seems to be a thing that appears on the channel some days and not others, and as you said it's not necessarily a specific tournament but the coverage throughout that day.
Having just checked I saw the lines present during the ad break.

Why after I have waited until 10pm tonight to catch the replay of the mens finals scheduled at 10 when I tuned in they are showing the WTA finals ceremony in Charleston !!!!!!!1 Come on Sky get your act together its becoming infuriating ! Anybody else feeling pee'd off ?

Yet again dreadful scheduling. What happened to being able to watch the finals on catch up? Looked just now and it's only the quarter finals. Just how much time are we supposed to pay for a service that fails it's own low standards. 😥
