Re: Tennis on sky in 24

Many thanks @PhilHampson-Sky , problem solved - I can now see the tennis streams available. Should have thought of that!

11th February - the long awaited launch of our new interactive Sky Sports tennis channel

I have just tuned to channel 520 (Virgin) which is showing the WTA Doha tournament. Currently a match between Marta Kostyuk and Caroline Dolehide.  Wanting to see what other matches are available I eagerly pressed the red button - to be greeted with the screnn displayong "there are no interactive events at this time".

Where is our promised choice?  There are 2 other singles matches and 1 doubles currently in play at Doha.

Some of the finals of last week's tournaments are acattered randomly over other Sky Sports channels.

This is a disaster.  Grrrrr!!!!!!!

@jo999 you may need to ask Virgin about that. The extra streams red button are live and working across the Sky platform (Sky Q, Sky Streaing and the Sky Sports App).

Re: Tennis on sky in 24

@caesarome Thanks I wrote to the email address and eventually I got a response - normal restart your box.

so did that and now red button doesn't work at all.  The email said if restarting box didnt work I would have to ring the tech team - manana!

i. The meantime I tried talking to my remote and got the result of lots of love matches.  I then was able to record (bonus) but couldnt actually select to watch!  Hope someone in sky is going to do an idiots guide soon

Re: Tennis on sky in 24

A very typical (and not unexpected) poor implementation from Sky with the tennis. As a Sky+HD owner (for over 15 years), we're once again shafted by not even being offered a red button service for extra courts, although I imagine that even if we were, it would only be SD.

So, unless I want to watch the match that is on the main channel, or more annoyingly, if they cut away from a match they were showing to broadcast a different one, my only option is to watch on an app on my phone. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I'd prefer to watch television on an actual television, ie: on my 49inch screen rather than a measly 6 inch one.

Sky don't even provide options on their app! At least with other providers, I can cast the content from my phone to the TV, but Sky just say "no" to that. Even the app itself is poor. On the tennis options, the stupid little white bar stays on the bottom of the screen and never disappears (Apple iPhone), plus, all of the streams within the Sky Sports App are bizarrely half the frame rate of that in the sky go app (which also doesn't allow casting). You can clearly see in particular on tennis streams that the stream is 25fps rather than 50fps, even on a tiny screen.

As far as I know (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong), Sky don't offer the option to stream the extra courts via their website on a PC, nor are there any apps that you can install onto something that does work on a TV screen (ie: AppleTV, FireStick, Roku etc etc).

So disappointing.

@Jon+Lambert

You can watch the other courts vias the Sky Sports app on a mobile device but you can't stream it to a TV.

If I wanted to watch on a 6" screen why did I buy a 43" TV?

Sports are particularly difficult to watch on a mobile device.

Sky should ensure customers are able to watch the same content over all platforms.

I'm a customer like you so have no idea why you have aimed that at me, I'm just pointing out how the app on a mobile device works.

Sorry.  I didn't mean to appear critical - it was just in response to your post.

Re: Tennis on sky in 24

We have sky q

the launch of the channel was great with Osaka and Raducanu interviews.

red button works great with all matches and all courts from all live tournaments.

app works great for on the go.

gone from a dreadful January wondering what was going to happen to full coverage from today.

Very happy.

How will it work for Indian Wells when there is an 8 hour time difference?

Re: Tennis on sky in 24

You get up in the night and watch it just like Australian swing.

Re: Tennis on sky in 24

So there's definitely been an improvement today with all live matches available on the red button.   As it's a masters tournament there have a presenting team.   They were okay.   I do miss Katherine whittaker though.   She was excellent.

Anyways, all good.   Unless you want to watch a replay.   So far I haven't found any.   I'm a sky customer watching though my tv.

Yeah Catherine Whitaker is a great presenter. Her and Daniela Hantuchova made a great team.
