hi @razmataz1
Unfortunately the new Sports+ app is only for mobile devices such as iphones/ipads & Android phones & tablets - not desktop platforms.

Hi all,
I see the Sky Sports + "app" is now available.
From what I can see from the web site / the Sky ! pages and their launch videos, it looks like you can ONLY watch one sport/game on it at a time and NO way to record another game played at same time.
For instance, tonight there are 2 rugby league matches on at the same 8:00 pm kick off, and I would like to watch one after the other as I have been able to do all this year when there were 2 or 3 games on at same time but on different channels, like Action, Max, Mix, Sports 1 or whatever. Record to the Q box and watch later.
Same on Sunday afternoon.
And as I will not be in the house at the time, how do I watch ANY of the 2 games on sunday, not going to sneak a look at Sky Go app while I am out!
1 game tomorrow is on SKy Action which I can record!
So the boast "watch ALL super league rugby games" via Sky Sports is misleading as I can't! Looks like I am losing access to a good percentage of the games I used to record/watch. Will be worse I guess for Football with more games onat the same time!!
Maybe I am jumping the gun, will there be a catch up / on demand function available on the Sky Q for the Sports+ app / channel?
Called SKy VIP help yesterday, they knew of the new channel but had no other information, very little / no training in it and could not help with the simple question above!
Sorry for the long post.

Super League had to maintain some sort of USP for their in-house streaming service and the availability of every game on-demand was that.
But it's also important to note that Sky Sports has never really offered anything on-demand outside of condensed highlights so it's not really a surprise that they're not doing it now. I think the problem is that Sky's marketing machine was too good here and made a lot of people think that Sky Sports+ was a new streaming service as opposed to the revamped red button that it is. In fairness and contrast, all pre-launch literature was clear in stating 'live sport', 'live streams' etc. No mention of on-demand has been made.
You would have to decide if the £19.99 a month price would be worth it to watch any missed games on-demand via Super League+.

Essentially the only difference in the new app compared to what was previously available is that using it Sky have the ability to have 100 sporting streams all at the same time, which wasn't possible under the old way of delivering the content.
Sky has always been one to push and promote watching sports live rather than on-demand.
Hopefully at some the app will change and offer more content on-demand after broadcast but as others have pointed out Sky have never offered this before and haven't explicitly said they would in all their promotion for the service. I think a lot was people just hoping or blindly expecting they would offer more catch up content.

All of your findings are correct. Can only watch one match on the red button. Cannot record from the red button. No apparent replays of matches so far.
whitewash job by Sky.
If your main reason got having Sky Dports is RL, o suggest you ditch it and pay the £130 for Supee League + where you can watch a large percentage of games live, and all matches on their "catch-up" service.
if you rate a season ticket holder there is apparently a £30 discount but I haven't worked out how to get that yet.
definitely a serious Downgrading for Rugby League by Sky!

Looking at the sky sports app, one can't watch the Preston game as yet via Sky sports plus and is only showing the Blackburn game. Is this correct?

The 'up to 100 simultaneous live events' is a bit of a red herring for marketing purposes as there aren't any sporting days where Sky's portfolio demands anywhere near as many streams.
It was certainly possible to broadcast as many simultaneous events previously had they wanted to - the key difference is cost effectiveness as satellite capacity is no longer an issue meaning no additional bandwidth and transponder space is needed to launch services.
Hence this red button v2 approach.

Sky make full Super League matches available to download now as opposed to just 15 min highlights. Last nights St Helens vs Salford match which aired on Sky Sports+ is available to download on catch up.

Thanks for the replies guys!
My beef is that this year ALL 6 games a week of Super League were on across the weekend ( thurs to sun ) and I could record them to the Q box hard disc, and watch when I wished. Now at the moment can only watch 1 ( of 2 right now! and Sunday ) and if not in the house miss it! Unless they have a catch up service as there is for other TV on Sky.
Wife watchedsthe tennis, and we both do the F1, so tennis may be afected by this but as F1 has it's own channel it should be OK.
Previous years Sky only showed a couple of games, so looks like it's back to that. Wifey has season ticket so goes to the home games, I am couch supporter ...
Had a more techy help desk guy at Sky earlier, said it was my viewing card that led to the freezing, break-ups in picture and no catch up menu option ... not fixed it an hour after resetting the card from his end!
What menus do you all get on the Sports + app / page .. I get about 5 sports and other sports and thats it, no catch up which is supposed to be at the top left!
Ohh yeah, Saints - my team - were on channel 412 / simcast on + app, so it IS in normal catch up. Have to check if tonights Hull KR and Huddersfield games appear there later!
Cheers

The 100 live events, could potentially come close when they cover the tennis US Open and have streams of every court, particularly on top of the extra live streams they will be running for the likes of rugby, football, golf during that period.
