Sky Showcase TV Viewing

Can anyone tell me why we have sports now playing on Sky Showcase when there are dedicated Sports Channels for these.  Don't.get me wrong I enjoy sport and pay fornthe Sports package, so why now is this overlapping onto family channels!!

Because Sky showcase is a channel used to showcase shows and events on another Sky channels that traditionally aren't provided as part of the base package. It's to encourage people to upgrade to Sky sports or Sky cinema. They usually have a couple of films and a couple of sporting events a week purely for this purpose.

For me, watching sport goes with family viewing, sometimes can rekindle memories of times spent watching them with people no longer with (like my grandparents)

In the original press release on the launch in 2021, sky stated

• Sky Showcase will be Sky’s flagship channel, replacing the Sky One brand at 106 on the electronic programme guide, and it will feature a selection of programmes from across Sky’s portfolio of channels – airing content from Sky Witness, Sky Documentaries, Sky Crime, Sky Nature, Sky Arts, Sky Max, Sky Comedy, Sky History, Sky Kids, SyFy  (now sky sci-fi) and E! (No longer broadcasting). It will also air selected highlights from Sky Cinema and Sky Sports.
