Sky Q loosing HD channels why?

Hi guys I read a article claiming Sky Q is loosing some HD channels but SD ones remain? I understand it is most likely BBC Studios who made the decision but also a Sky History Channel is also loosing its HD slot? Why are they closing down HD Channels isn't it going backwards? Is it to save satellite bandwidth/Slots or a money saving thing as no one's watching them? thanks

Re: Sky Q loosing HD channels why?

I think it's just to save money on satellite transmission The channels are still on Sky Glass/Stream and Virgin Media.

Note that despite its UK/RoI branding, 'Sky History' is not a regular Sky channel: it's a joint venture with A&E (now Hearst) Networks and effectively operated by them rather than Sky.

And yes, it's likely to be a decision largely based on budget vs audience figures because broadcasting an HD channel from orbit costs several million pounds a year just in satellite data transit fees.
