It really is relevant, though, because it means Sky can have no control over content (which is what you were complaining about) carried by non-Sky-owned channels
There's an important distinction between Sky as a broadcaster of its own channels, and Sky as the provider of a much wider reception platform and regulated EPG.
Sky has sole control of content on fourteen channels, and joint control on six more:
Don't forget E! and Movies24 are now Sky brands too

Pedant alert 🚨
If it was a family tree, they'd be down as having a different parent and related to Sky by extension. Whereas they brought Syfy under their umbrella, the two channels mentioned here are still under the NBCU umbrella. The same applies to CNBC.

NBC Universal Entertainment channels were folded into Sky operations , the ones still remaining Sky operate and based at Sky at Osterley
The channels along with Syfy before the rebrand were integrated into Sky Media Village a year ago.
Personally I expect to E! to be shut down at some point.

I hear you!
I get people have read this as non sky channels but I would also include them ,tbo there is diddly on all the platforms right now , I do believe Reaper is due a second series but apart from that there doesn't seem to be much to watch or on the way .
Regards cost and discounts ,I have been a vip for 20 odd yrs and always managed to get deals.
The glaring issue right now is their bb ....way too many outages and for me that's time to switch .

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreBroadband outages may not be as a result of Sky as Sky broadband uses the openreach phone network to provide service therefore if you have an issue with broadband it's more likely to be an openreach problem. It's possible it's related to your Sky hub router but asking Sky to send a replacement and trying that would clearly indicate where the fault is likely to be.

Actually it's nothing to do with openreach as the line is fine,it's the router and that's a sky issue ,and it's not just me having the issue .
I have gone through the sky app the last 2 times , sky had to fix it the issue the last 3 times 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

If that's this Reaper then it got its second (and final) series fifteen years ago.

best thing is to do cancel ya sky package get freeview or free sat !! am thinkin the same wasting money each month !! rubbish channels the movies all classic and repeats !!

I completely agree. There's nothing on that's worth watching. We always used to be spoilt for choice.
with regards to the call centre it's incredibly frustrating. Remember the days you rang straight through to a Scottish person who knew everything about sky!!
now it's options options options and someone that I can't understand.
There is no question here either, but I'm entitled to my opinion.

I'm only going to focus on this section of your comment as I think the remainder is just a rant.
There's thousands of hours of shows and movies on On-Demand and Catch-Up, and on Streaming Apps.
You also get the following with your basic Sky Signature (Sky Q)/Sky Ultimate TV (Sky Glass/Stream) subscription :
Catch-up & On-Demand
Streaming apps:
All these are either with your Sky Signature/Sky Ultimate TV subscription. There are other On-Demand, Catch-Up and Streaming services that I've omitted as they're premium or one needs another subscription. So I'm sure you can find something to watch there.

We have the full Sky subscription and are aware of what that offers. However one has to be interested in what's on offer, and in my opinion, the quality and choice of everything on offer is far from what it was.
we stream when necessary and save to our planner when appropriate, the planner used to be full. There's nothing of quality or interest.

Peacock was shut down officially on 9th January and wasn't really a app, arguably the phasing out started a year before.

If you feel that way, you could consider other providers such as Virgin Media, or even Freeview with Freesat or Saorview with a third-party satellite receiver (to get free satellite channels)
You could also get a Chromecast with Google TV. You can then pay for Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, etc. all separately and have access to them on Google TV. It probably would cost roughly the same, per month for your TV, and you get 100% choice of what to watch and when.
There's also free services like BBC iPlayer (UK only), RTÉ Player (some content restricted to Ireland or Ireland and Northern Ireland only), ITVX (UK only), Virgin Media Player (Ireland only), Channel 4 (live channels unavailable in Ireland), Pluto TV (UK only), Samsung TV Plus (Ireland: on Samsung TVs only), Rakuten TV if you would like to keep some linear TV.
Personally, I do think linear TV is pretty much dead and it's only still available for the elderly who may not be interested in obtaining Internet-related content.
