Pay for hd but when I try to watch ‘movies’ in hd it says I need to upgrade

The entertainment  channel Sky comedy seldomly show any movies (they show TV programmes, a view talks how's hosted by comedians, and stand up sets)

There is no entertainment channel Sky Action, only a movie one. Do you mean Sky Showcase or Sky Max?

 I can't watch the channel (sky comedy), regardless to what's showing. Have always been able to watch before I cancelled sky cinema

'Sky Action' is a Cinema channel and requires the Cinema subscription to view.  Confusingly, 'Sky Comedy' is used for both a Cinema channel (needing the add-on) and a regular EPG slot (no additional subscription required)

It's now common for the subscription Cinema channels not to carry the Cinema branding in their displayed titles.

Free-to-air movie channels have reduced in number since TCM closed in the UK: Film 4 and the Great! branded slots are the main ones.

Channels requiring the Sky Cinema add-on are as below:  at any given time some can be carrying temporary rebranding for a franchise or theme, and the word 'Cinema' may well not appear in the EPG label.

I suspect you've inadvertently been trying to watch the channels in bold.
