Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI opted for the Black Friday annual offer which is a good price if you want 4K - 4K/HDR works fine on SkyQ.
================================================
SkyQ Silver bundle (V2 2TB with UHD/HDR + two minis) in Sky region #71 (Oxford) using VirginMedia Gig1 Fibre (1.2Gbps/100Mbps).

Black Friday offer is decent £48 for the year for Premium, I'm guessing even if Sky did offer an upgrade path it would probably cost £3-4 a month, so not a lot different.
Offer is on until 2nd December.

So Paramount plus premium service went live 22..11.2024 with 4K and atmos. How do we get this via Sky. I am guessing we can't and lose out on this premium feature 🤬 I would have been happy to pay an upleft fee but having no option sucks Sky. Time to wave bye bye in May😳

At the moment unless sky can provide an option at a later stage to upgrade to premium plan
You need to set up a new account with paramount + to subscribe to premium plan as in use different email address
Paramount have a good black friday deal at the moment for annual subscription but note price increases a lot after 12 months

Good morning, I was browsing the paramount plus library and noticed some content advertised as 4k Dolby Vision etc but it plays in 1080p. Will Sky customers have the option to upgrade their paramount plus subscription that comes with Sky cinema to the premium 4k version? The current version is only the standard version. Thank you.
4K is not available on Sky. Really that simple. Even the channel called "Eurosport 4K" is broadcast in UHD.
In my own personal opinion, I think Sky are a bit apprehensive to offer 4K. They went all out with 3D and that was a flop, so I would suspect that they're waiting for 4K to become more of a standard instead of a fad before they offer it.

For consumer purposes, 4K and UHD are the same thing.
At a technical level 4K has very slightly more pixels, but the few extra pixels wouldn't fit on a 16:9 home TV, and many such TVs are advertised as 4K as there is such little difference.

I genuinely thought that UHD was a higher definition than HD but less than 4K, and thought it was like this:
But this is now incorrect This may have been the case a few years ago, but according to UHD TV on Wikipedia, UHD is anything higher than HD up to and including 4K & 8K, and labelled as 4K UHD and 8K UHD.
According to https://www.sky.com/watch/sky-sports-uhd, it says:
"UHD – Enjoy the sport you love in stunning detail. 4k UHD allows you to see more of the game in every frame. You’ll see every goal, crash, chip, slog and drip of sweat in a truly immersive experience."
So any channel labelled as UHD is in fact 4K UHD.
So I completely and utterly stand corrected and I apologise.

With my previous replies being said. @JohnnyMN, do you have a UHD TV that supports 4K? If not, the programme will default to HD.
Also, do you have the "Sky Q Experience" pack on Sky Q or "Sky Ultra HDR and Dolby Atmos" pack on Sky Glass/Stream? Not having these may tell the Sky device that you do not have a UHD TV when you actually may have. (This is just an educated guess)
If your TV supports it, try installing the Paramount+ app on it directly and seeing and logging in and seeing if you can watch the 4K programmes (if you have a UHD TV with 4K) that way.
Another issue may be your Internet speed. If you don't have very fast Internet speeds, the programme may default to HD.

You are replying to a post from September before Paramount + Premium Plan was launched in UK/Ireland
Did you not read the replies in September to that post
Paramount + Premium Plan which gives content in 4K was only launched in UK/Ireland on November 20
At the moment Paramount + subscription with Sky is only standard plan that gives playback in HD only
Until sky provide option to upgrade to Premium Plan
Customers have to do the following below
Paramount + Premium Plan requires customers to set up a new account direct with paramount and do a new subscription using a different email address
Also 4K TV's are 4K UHD that has resolution 3840 × 2160
All 4K streaming content and 4K live standard broadcasts uses resolution 3840 × 2160

I was signed into Paramount Plus through my TV (Sony A80J 77") when I saw the listings for content with 4k DV and Atmos. Since there's no support for DV, I don't use my Sky stream box for the major streaming apps outside of the UK ones like All4, My5 etc so I can skip their adverts.
My original question was whether Paramount's Premium tier with 4k DV and Atmos would be offered to Sky customers who are subscribed to Sky Cinema as there was no clear information regarding this from either Paramount or Sky at the time of asking. The question has now been answered based on another customer's post which includes their reply from Paramount. Folks wanting the premium tier with 4k etc will need to subscribe with a new email address as suggested by the previous posts as the subscription included with Sky Cinema is the standard tier.
Thanks everyone for your replies and for posting the black Friday deal. I might just stick with the standard tier for now and see if the premium tier becomes an option for Sky cinema subscribers later on.

Will the Paramount + 4K be available in EIRE?

Already answered in this thread please read previous posts.
Paramount + Premium Plan was launched in UK/Ireland on November 20
Please stop using Eire as that is not word in English Language
Éire and Eire both are words from Irish Language and have totally different meanings when translated into English
The one you are using is offensive to people from Ireland
English Language name of country is Ireland
