All government interferes with the lives of its citizens to some extent. The operation of the free market, not so much.

 

Price regulation in particular is something liberal democracies are extremely uncomfortable with.

Indeed. Not a remotely sensible or practical suggestion. It would be the equivalent of a "price floor" rather than a "price cap", and you can be certain everyone would end up paying more than they do now.
