@Robert0072  Eurosport was never part of your sports package.

Eurosport was always part of the basic pack.

Yeah, I pay £79 p/m for SS, and part of that was Discovery+, giving me access to World Tour cycling.

Nope: Discovery+ Standard, which included cycling, was 'free' with Sky Signature, and the Eurosport channels were also in Signature.  Simultaneously (as a decision by Warner Bros Discovery Inc) Eurosport ceased broadcasting to UK/RoI and the bundled Discovery+ dropped to 'Basic' which doesn't include any Sports content, presumably because WBD really needs to make a return on investment from its acquisition of both Eurosport and TNT.

Re: Loss of Eurosport channels

It would be nice if SKY introduced a discount for TNT sports  to those on longer term contracts with SKY Sports   I know the small print means they don't have to buy they will start to lose customer as contracts end because currently being ripped off by paying more for less

TNT Sport isn't owned by Sky. They can't determine the subscription price.

Nothing to stop SKY  giving their customer a discount

Re: Loss of Eurosport channels

I suppose for that to happen TNT would have to give SKY a discount. I believe these arrangements are reciprocal. The whole things smacks of yet another US monopoly taking control of as much as they can to wring every last dollar out of us.

Re: Loss of Eurosport channels

Not necessarily SKY could just absorb the difference I doubt they are paying TNT the same as they are charging customers

Re: Loss of Eurosport channels

Or if you could pay a smaller amount for just the sports you want.

Thats because Eurosport was part of the basic Discovery + tier. With Warner Bros Discovery closing Eurosport, and changing the available tiers in Discovery +, you need the premium Discovery + tier (which is essentially a TNT Sports subscriptoin) to get all the sporting content that WDB have the rights to.

With that logic, why aren't WDB heavily discounting TNT Sports via Discovery + to get people to upgrade to the premium tier of Discovery + and thus WDB get 100% of the revenue.

The likely answer is that they don't need to discount the premium sports package because they know sports fans will continue to subscribe to them in order to watch their favourite sports. Sports rights and live sporting content is a premium, its some of the few live TV broadcasting where they can still get decent ad rates for due to the majority of the consumers watching the content live.
