How long until Sky One returns?

It's unlikely it will ever return. Sky have moved to a name branded model. By the time they are past that phase it'll probably be a full streaming OD model with sections rather than a broadcast channel style.

That would potentially clash with the obligations put on a regulated EPG provider by Ofcom though.

It appears Freely intends doing something creative in this area.

@TimmyBGood That's a good point, but changes will inevitably have to be made as the direction of travel is only in one direction albeit not at the pace some predict.
