Eurosport still available in 50 other countries

Does anyone know why eurosport is still available in 50 other countries so if this is the case why is it just the uk that suffers the loss of the channel.

That's a question for Warner Brothers Discovery,  not Sky. It was their decision.

As far as I'm aware as of yet WDB don't have a TNT Sports brand in the majority of those territories which is likely the reason the UK/ROI have been the first to shut down as they already had TNT Sports to move the content over to.

Personally it would motivate surprise me at all if over the next several years WDB attempted to globally consolidate all their sports content under the TNT Sports brand as a premium sports offfering, which is certainly something they could achieve as MAX continues its global rollout and growth.

Indeed, watching the coverage of Var classic on Discovery plus last week, when the winner was interviewed, one of the ad logos behind him said in french "Eurosport available on Max"

As I mentioned in the larger thread, the UK and Ireland does make a nice testbed for WBD to see what uptake on streaming is like before they risk it in a larger European market.

Re: Eurosport still available in 50 other countries

I see massive amount of people unhappy about losing the option to watch cycling and motorcycling on Eurosport in sky and looking at cancelling sub are there any deals being offered by Sky? £30 is Crazy as I don't want to be watching football baseball etc. shocking news

Sky isn't in a position to offer deals if WBD don't facilitate these.  There's no graduated level of Discovery+ or TNT subscription with only a subset of the sports content to which they have exclusive rights: it's all or nothing.

WBD obviously feel that more people will subscribe to TNT as a result of this. Coupled with the money they will save through not broadcasting Eurosport any more.

And even the Discovery+ basic annual subscription option has now been removed so i suspect the beginning of the end for Discovery+.

That's inevitable once max launches next year
