According to Radio Times Olympic Special there will be nine Eurosport pop-up channels on Sky and a Eurosport 4K channel. I was hoping that the 4K channel would be activated in time for their opening ceremony programme.

They probably copy and pasted the information for Tokyo games in 2021.

These fill in the blanks article often have incorrect information and sky are not responsible for errors in them.

Discovery/Wbd are trying to push more and more people using their own streaming service, rather than linear channels.

In some markets, they close the eurosport app service on Monday to get people to move to Discovery Plus.

Re: Eurosport 4k no olympics?

This is another reason I've cancelled my UHD addon... It feels like 3D all over again and the UK broadcasters are going backwards with regards to 4K so no point paying extra for it!

And to think France broadcasting 2 FREE 4K channels over their freeview equivalent!

Re: Eurosport 4k no olympics?

So three people have now mentioned the opening ceremony is in UHD on iPlayer but it has also been said that BBC will only have HD content, so which is it? As I mentioned earlier, I'm sure I saw a lot of UHD content on iPlayer in 2021, so if they had it then why wouldn't they have it now?

Yes working fine, but hopefully they stop all the awful chatter and show the event with its soundtrack.

Eurosport and the Discovery+ app it's only hd in stram.

There is a uhd option in the Discovery+ app on Sky, but it's getting the 'upgrade' message that Sky have told us is some kind of Discovery+ glitch, so may be some on Sky later...

Should I think for those that sub for TNT, get the uhd feed anyway like they do for the football in the app. Not having that TNT sub Myself, I would not know if it's working

I don't know but I suspect that the Opening Ceremony is treated separately to any actual Sport coverage.

As @Ash_scfc says I belive Discovery + have the overall rights & the BBC have to negotiate what coverage they get.

Just because the BBC were able to afford/negotaite UHD & other coverage in the past it doesn't mean they can now

I suspect this is not a glitch unless it just shouldn't be there (prompting  the upgrade to TNT )- I can't see the Discovery app passing you back to a Satellite UHD channel

As a slight aside, I do wish the BBC would not have their Studio 'Wide Angle' Camera, whenever they cut to it, in continual motion - Occasionally is OK but not all the time they use it

(BTW Yes  - I have completed their feedback form)

@GD1

Im watching the uhd on iPlayer on Stream, cracking pq.

Muted the dreadful beeb commentary.

Have started my iPad running Sky Q with the Eurosport 1 commentary and put it through the soundbar, so have the Eurosport sound.

Bliss and it's in sync haha.

Enjoyed that opening ceremony.

The heavy rain and Paris at night with all the additional lights made for a good uhd show.

Was sometimes a bit weird in places, but very French and a good ending.

Roll on tomorrow for the actual games.

Lets hope all the discovery+ stuff many streams works and hoping some form of uhd appears on Sky.

Re: Eurosport 4k no olympics?

Hi, bystander to this conversation as I'm a virgin media customer - the Eurosport 4k uhd channel is only broadcasting in stereo but the other HD channels are in Dolby Digital. What are sky customers getting?

How do you get the UHD feed on iPlayer? I can see UHD programmes on iPlayer but the Olympics coverage is just showing in standard HD with no UHD option.

I read the BBC was only showing the Opening and Closing ceremonies in UHD.

Looks like it was only for the opening ceremony.

Not seen any mention of it for any other Beeb Olympic coverage.

Not been to iPlayer since the opening ceremony, as have been watching the actual Olympic events on the two Europoort linear channels and using as a launch and return pad the Sky Stream Olympic second live rail for all the Discovery+ app stuff ( so no searching within the app itself)

The app pq is excellent, so not that bothered. Plus of course as it always has been, the pq of Eurosport is excellent too in HD.

Does look like we are not getting the usual Eurosport uhd we get for some of their sports and we have had for the last few Olympics. Sky have remained very quiet on that, they usually make a point of its arrival to us Superusers.

The discovery + app is not giving us in our 'standard'  free offer Sky tier, any uhd either.
