Eurosport 4k no olympics?

Hello

New to sky here

Channel 906 which I believe to be Eurosport 4K even though it's showing a sky sports off air screen isn't showing any schedule for the Olympics opening ceremony.

Yet TNT Sports Ultimate is and the Eurosport 4K channel on virgin media is.

Is this a mistake or are Sky customers being forced to subscribe to TNT to watch in UHD?

@Ash_scfc  There has been nothing confirmed for Sky ref Eurosport 4K see this article https://rxtvinfo.com/2024/2024-olympics-tv-channel-guide/

It is belived it would be red button access

Re: Eurosport 4k no olympics?

Fingers crossed then but I'm not convinced with ch 906 having nothing scheduled, pretty poor from Sky if so.

Ultimately if it's on a red button it will just link to that channel, it's how sky sports UHD works also.

Discovery+ is delivering HDR but it's such a painful app to use, it's also configured wrong switch my tv to 60p when it's broadcast in 50p so never looks smooth.

@Ash_scfc

When eurosport have uhd it is usually via the red button from eurosport 1 and won't necessarily show inane listings

Well that's  pain and a huge disappointment.  I was pretty sure at the London Olympics, I was able to schedule and record many events in UHD.

I was able to sort out the Discovery+ app, but it looks like that's HD only.

Try turning the Judder Reduction For Apps setting off (if it exists on Sky Stream). On Sky Q switching it on causes most apps to run in 60fps mode rather than 50fps. 60fps is good for American content but not UK/European.

Re: Eurosport 4k no olympics?

Is there a good reason why, for the most part, only BBC One is being used to show the Olympics ( only when the news is on does it change over to BBC Two )? Why can't BBC Three and/or BBC Four be used?

Also, can anyone say who is likely to have the best 4K broadcast? I noticed the other day that Discovery+ will have the most coverage in 4K but I don't use that platform, is it any good? Will BBC iPlayer have 4K? I seem to recall using it for the last Olympics. Thanks.

Re: Eurosport 4k no olympics?

BBC or Discovery+ has no 4K coverage only the Eurosport 4K channel which in the UK is currently on broadcasting on Virgin media as a full channel.

It's not confirmed if this will be available on Sky, hence this forum post.

If not then Virgin media will be the only place to watch the Olympics in 4K.

Re: Eurosport 4k no olympics?

It's simply a huge shame for sky. We're paying way too much money for not being able to watch it in 4K HDR.

Seems indicative of the general apathy surrounding the Olympics this year, there's not the usual build-up on TV etc.

Re: Eurosport 4k no olympics?

Apathy or not, sky should give us the chance to watch it in proper quality, no matter what.

Europsort (part of Discovery + owned by Warner Borthers) & the BBC who are providing the content are independent of SKY

Re: Eurosport 4k no olympics?

But sky is the one who should come to an agreement with WBD about distributing Eurosport 4K. If they are not willing to do this, that's a big shame.

Re: Eurosport 4k no olympics?

But it's up to Sky to broadcast the content provided by Eurosport, just like Virgin media have.

Looking at the discovery+ app it seems UHD on there is restricted to TNT Sports subscribers.

So still doubt we're going see anything unless you upgrade to TNT Sports, poor from Sky this.

I thought moving from Virgin to Sky I was getting a more quality product but it kinda feels like Sky just cba.
