Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThe England test matches in India have never been advertise as being on Sky Sports, as Sky Sports don't own the rights to it. Cricket matches played in India are covered by a different deal as the rights holder is different so therefore any rights Sky has to other England cricket games don't apply to the Indian tours.
In fact the rights were only snapped up by a UK broadcaster (TNT) the other week on a multi-year deal.

Why is the England V India test match series not on Sky Spots this week as previously advertised?
can I get a refund as miss sold.
I have moved your post into the topic already discussing this.
Where have you seen this being as being shown on Sky Sports because they hasn't been any such advertising that I have seen as TNT won the last minute rights.

the rights to tours played in India were actually only sold last week and Sky apparently chose not to bid for it likely a combination of money and the return on the investment they would get. Sky have quite a number of cricket broadcasting rights it's not like they need them all. Ignoring football, they have a limited budget for sporting rights that they need to strategically spread out across a number of sports.

I agree , have waited all this time for the England match to find it is not on Sky Sports cricket. What a con. Some of us cannot afford to have all of the packages on offer and it was a gift for Christmas having the Sky Sports cricket. What a empty gift this has proved to be. Thank you Sky for absolutely nothing. I will be cancelling.

@brian1562 How is it a con?
This test series was never advertised as being on Sky Cricket, some people in this thread need to start living in the real world where a single provider can't show all the content they want watch.

Subscribing to a dedicated cricket channel in the UK should mean you get to see England's matches where ever they are as most viewers are England followers. As anyone who gets to go to see a live test match here knows the ticket price's are astronomical and they are hard to get, it seems more like cricket administrator 's and broadcaster 's would like to convince us all that Test match cricket is dying but that is not true, what is true is that a faster shorter and cheaper version suits them better. It would not matter to me if every current player joined short form franchise cricket l would still watch and attend test matches because they are interesting and matter.

The world of TV rights do not work like that the BCCI are not going care one jot that Sky in the UK has a dedicated cricket channel, they will go with whoever has put in a bid and who had put in a high enough bid of which TNT did and the sooner people realise that the days of Sky scooping up all TV sporting rights are long gone the better.

Possibly also something of a question of scale when assessing priorities: the numbers 67 million vs 1.4 billion come to mind ; )
The total UK television audience for an overseas test could probably fit inside the Narendra Modi Stadium with seats to spare...

Yes. I have the cricket package only - at least that is now possible! I watch mainly cricket and rugby - never football of any gender. What's the point of subscribing to a cricket channel if it can't broadcast an England test series? £18 per month plus the Sky Sports subscription which I wouldn't otherwise bother with (wall to wall football, absolutely zero interest in that). Probably cancel it now and follow on the BBC online. Has anyone from Sky responded?

Realistically, a subscription to Sky Sports & TNT Sports is needed, to cover the vast majority of live sport now. Eurosport is as much part of WBD as TNT is, and potentially is becoming their non-premium brand.

Why on earth would Sky respond to this? They don't need to justify why they haven't outbid all their rivals for each particular broadcasting contract for every sport.
In fact there are very few sports that any broadcaster has the complete broadcast rights to show every event in a country. I guess F1 is the exception to the rule that Sky have had all the events for a number of years however that is likely for 2 years (1. that is how the broadcast rights are sold, as a package of all events, 2. they have be able to subsidise the cost of the rights by reselling the highlights packages to Channel 4).
