Dongle modem USB V mobile wifi router.

Hi. Not really bout sky mobile but any help thanks

My dad has Wireless Router Dongle Modem USB thing for tv only.  to get internet signal for freeview.   Seems bit limited and and he says flickering.  I haven't looked at it yet so dont know what precise problem is yet

I do know the dongle is in good place,  not near electric stuff.  Notplugged into tv USB connection. Isnt used by anything else. Higher up. I wonderef if proper 4G Mobile WiFi router like the Vodafone one might be better/ faster or stronger signal? Or is it just more expensive version of USB thing?  Any help/ideas i would b helpful

Thanks

@nsims  If the dongle is to get Freeview then this is neither a Sky related issue or a mobile related issue, it's certainly would not be a broadband or wifi issue either.

If you want it for Freeview then a 4G dongle is irrelvent in unneccessary, I woukld recommend doing some research into exactly what is is you're trying to achieve.

Those mifi usb dongle type devices work ok for occasional connections and probably are good for a one device scenario with not much data or speed throughout required.

Assume for the freeview, it's needed to connect to those freeview connected channels and the red button content like BBC Watch from Start etc.

It all comes down to how much the SIM card for the dongle is currently costing  a month, to recomending other advice.

Is there any reason there is no broadband connection to the property?

Sky offer broadband deals, on a fibre connection as low as low as £22-25 or so a month

Re: Dongle modem USB V mobile wifi router.

My dad doesn't want a contract as only renting flat. He watches only couple hours tv in evening. £7 month is his sky sim in the dongle.  And he does not use anywhere near this 2GB data as many watches freeview through normal tv aerial.  But channels he can get on it are very few.  And less than what expected through normal TV aerial in his area according to freeview website. So think aerial is not position correct.  Which he has no say over.  I got dongle working ok with freeview with couple of extra channels, the ones he like best like 5etc. My brother recommended the VODAFONE MiFi 4G Mobile WiFi 30 GB Hotspot , which data would last ages.  But if not going produce stronger/more reliable signal i don't think worth trying.   Thanks for any advice
