Eurosport
With Eurosport disappearing and it being part of the Ultimate TV pack, any ideas as what is likely to happen from a subscription pov?

Re: Eurosport
Historically Sky hasn't reduced subscription rates following channel closures.

Cycling on Discovery+ / TNT sports
I see from February that professional cycling will now be shown on TNT sports and Dicovery +. Eurosport will cease to exist. As a Sky Glass customer who gets Discovery + free will I still be able to view the cycling for free?

Re: Eurosport
Not fussed about a subscription reduction as such just wondered if there are any rumours of what's likely to happen...

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25
I think it's now time to evaluate my Sky subscription.
Show's have gradually disappeared from Sky over the last few years, either through moving platforms or simply being cancelled with nothing to really replace them.
Now we're losing channels too.
If it were not for my love of F1 and darts, the decision would be a lot easier to make...
Phil.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25
This might not be Sky's decision but I'd imagine they will be paying less to WBD for Discovery+ Basic than they were for Discovery+ Standard.

WDB are moving some of the cycling content (e.g highlight shows) over to Quest but essentially to watch live and in-full content that is currently on Eurosport you would need to have Discovery + Premium tier, which isnt free. You can get it either by signing up for £30/month directly with Discovery + or by subscribing to the TNT Sports channels as part of your Sky package ( as this will upgrade your included Discovery + subscription from Basic to Premium).

Re: Cycling on Discovery+ / TNT sports
There will be some live sport on Quest:
“TNT Sports will also continue to bring more content to fans on Warner Bros. Discovery’s free-to-air channel Quest. In 2025, this will include broadcasting every MotoGP Sprint race, adding to existing live Bennetts British Superbikes coverage, a brand-new weekly cycling show covering all key moments of the season, continue highlights of the Giro d’Italia and La Vuelta a España, plus premiere a range of new sports documentaries.”
I'm sure things will be clearer near to launch.

Think it's time to boycott Comcast/Sky prices don't exactly get any cheaper now removing Eurosport which was included part of subscription and forces customers to now pay TNT money? Oh give over stop making every sport premium!

It wasn't Sky's decision to make this change, Warner Brothers Discovery are the ones who have decided to close down Eurosport and moving all sporting content over to TNT Sports.
To be honest this is hardly surprising to me, as sports rights are continually getting more and more expensive. Unfortunately the increase in sporting rights is far outweighing what they can get from advertisers which is the reason that sports content is becoming put behind subscription services.
You only have to look at how much sporting content has left the free-to-air broadcasters over the past decade and moved over to subscription services to see that this was the future, as the free-to-air broadcasters struggle to afford the rights with their deminishing budgets.

@MrKieranb perhaps i'm missing something but out of interrest how do the likes of Comcast and other TV providers like EE and Virgin Media have a say in what WDB decide to do with their channels and the portfolio of sports rights they hold?
