I bet Comcast thought they'd bought a golden goose when they acquired BSkyB. Turns out all they got was an expensive rotting carcass.

Re: MTV music

Yeah. And it’s even more obvious when MTV been around for like 30 years of broadcasting Music channels so long as it advances Sky career launch platform in the 90s, but confined to VEVO Pop, VEVO Country, VEVO Hip Hop & R&B or VEVO 90s & 00s on Samsung TV Plus.

At the very least, they should have have kept the music channels, but just broadcast them on MTV overnight, like:
MTV Music - 00:00-02:00,
Club MTV - 02:00-04:00,
MTV 90s - 04:00-06:00,
MTV 80s - 06:00-08:00

That would have been a good compromise.

There would be cost of transmitting it, plus also royalties to the rights owner.

But what I was suggesting was the channels were to be programming blocks on the main MTV channel. On 1st. Jan, MTV broadcast Top 50 songs (I can't remember the genre). I'm sure MTV and Paramount still own the rights to broadcast music.

Re: Changes to the TV Guide - December 2025

That was "50 Brit Hits" on 31st December. The entire music programming team were made redundant at the end of last year. There is no one to produce any music video slots on UK/European MTV channels anymore that's why the main MTV channels all over Europe have dropped music slots in addition to closing the dedicated music channels.

No, but they could easily do it. Whoever manages the MTV channel and schedule could do it.
