Re: Changes to the TV Guide - December 2024

I always find the older 80s/90s videos on Now look awful as if they've been ripped from YouTube, but the same videos on the MTV music channels are much better quality.

Has there been any announcement of hull launching in the uk?

Hull content is primarily on Disney Plus (though there are exemptions)

Anyway streaming services are not on this list, this is for linear channels.

I thought Hulu was basically Disney+? They are both owned by 20th Century.

For the most part. Yes, but with everything when it comes to international distribution of programmes there are exemptions.

Sometimes this is due to prodocution or distributor being different for international as opposed to US, sometimes other tv services had rights to it before Star on Didney launched in uk & ireland

Re: Changes to the TV Guide - December 2024

The star content on our Disney plus is similar to the content on Hulu I believe? I havent seen anything on the main TV and channel news sites about it being renamed?

Re: Changes to the TV Guide - December 2024

I seen that on some x threads for UK cable changes, some of the xumo UK channels are being put on virgin TVs EPG listings behind the scenes, so judging by this it won't be long before they are on sky stream/glass and sky Q's listings on the EPG?

The exactly amount for Comcast stake in Hulu which Disney have agreed to buy still hasn't been worked out , I wouldn't rule out Star being renamed to Hulu after that happens

They don't use on Star on posters anymore e.g High Potential and Paradise don't have them for example next month.

Why is Sky Cinema Animation going to Sky Cinema Kung Fu Panda, back to Sky Cinema Animation, back to Sky Cinema Kung Fu Panda?

Also, I thought Sky froze any channel changes over Christmas?

Re: Changes to the TV Guide - December 2024

The Christmas platform freeze has been much less strict for about a decade. There are still no technical changes (like transponder moves) over Christmas, but channel renames are allowed.

That was always an arbitrary choice to reduce strain on the holiday call call centre staffing, and presumably quite possible to over-ride by a Marketing Department with enough corporate influence.

I guess it could also be a legacy from the dominant period of dead-tree listings magazines.

There's still, as far as we know, a moratorium on software release over that period.

It's simple to change names compared adding or removing channels🤔
